ROC ALL NIGHT | 15 YEAR-OLD OLDENBURG | FORT WORTH, TX

Muffin, Roc All Night, is an Oldenburg Mare. She was bred by Melissa Hirt and Nancy Whitehead at Northern Pines Farm. Muffin is owned by Avery Jaster and leased by Kelli Barge.

Muffin is a stunning horse who has a black coat and one white fetlock, which adds a unique charm to her appearance. However, it is not just Muffin’s looks that make her unique, she also has a sparkling personality, too. Avery, the owner of Muffin explains that she does not act much like a mare because she makes all kinds of weird faces after she gets treats, and will often times flap her lips to entertain herself when she gets bored.

Avery found Muffin at her show trainers’ horse barn located in Traverse City, MI. Avery may or may not have mentioned that she was “looking” for a horse even though her parents told the staff they weren’t. However, fate intervened and Avery ended up riding Muffin for her lesson. Once the staff saw Avery on Muffin, they couldn’t resist mentioning to her parents that Muffin was for sale and that the two were a great fit together. Avery’s parents couldn’t deny the chemistry and now Avery has owned Muffin for 7 years!

When it comes to treats Muffin seems to only like things that are for horses. This includes carrots, apples, horse treats, and peppermints. Even though Muffin will take all of the things listed above, she really loves peppermints and can not turn one down when they are offered.

Avery’s love for horses has always been there. She explain that she has loved and wanted a horse for as long as she can remember. At the age of 11, Avery finally convinced her parents to get Avery her very own horse. Once Avery was in high school, she branched out and really found her passion for jumping and horse riding. Avery shares that she “loves the bond you can form with horses most, they really will do about anything for you.”

Avery reveals that her most cherished memory with Muffin was at a Halloween party. During the party, they had a horse bobbing contest with apples. Muffin not only succeeded in bobbing for apples, but she also noticed that there were carrots at the bottom of the bucket. Once she realized that there were carrots, she began putting her whole head underwater to grab the carrots. This was just the start of Muffin’s love for water as she really enjoys sticking her nose in the water and blowing bubbles out of her nostrils.
