Zulu “Zu” | Dutch Warmblood | Trapp O’Neal | TKO Sporthorses

Meet Zulu, better known as “Zu” around the barn. Zu is a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood dark bay with four white socks. Zu is owned and ridden by Alyssa Moran who trains with Trapp O’Neal at TKO Sporthorses in Magnolia, TX.

The pair have many fond memories together, Alyssa shares one of her personal favorites, “when we won the split rock $5,000 final in Fort Worth. The show itself was very impressive, the arena was very dressed up, every class had a victory gallop, and the winners got an interview and podium photos. My trainer, Trapp, and I walked a great track for Zulu, and myself to follow, Zulu warmed up great. As we entered the arena I had a good feeling about this course, Zulu jumped a clean first round as well as a clean quick jump-off track and took the lead with just 16 horses left to go out of 58. Zulu was quick enough to keep the top prize, we got back on for the victory gallop followed by a short interview and all of my friends and family were there or watching the live stream from home! The whole experience was incredibly memorable!”

Alyssa and trainer, Trapp O’Neal, found Zulu while looking for horses in Wellington Florida. Alyssa shared that the first time she met Zulu she could tell right off the bat he was incredibly sweet with a very outgoing personality!

Zulu is a very outgoing and sweet horse. One with the kindest personality! He loves to give kisses, loves a good back scratch, and will do anything for a treat! He’s always looking to please his rider!

Zulu’s favorite treats are the German Horse Minty Muffins, as well as the Snaks 5th Avenchews!

“When I was younger I loved helping my grandpa around the ranch and getting to ride the horses with him! My parents noticed my love for horses and decided to get me into some riding lessons and eventually a pony of my own!” Alyssa has owned horses for about 10 years now and lives on a farm! She shares her favorite thing about owning horses is getting to learn each horse’s personality, getting to spend quality time with each of them, as well as having them be a part of her daily routine!
