5 Gifts Every Horse Girl Wants For Christmas

I get it, navigating your role as a Horse Husband/Boyfriend/Significant Other can be difficult. Especially when it comes to the holidays. She has high expectations and won’t settle for less than the best. I want to give you some gift ideas that I know 100% will make that horse girl in your life happy.

#1. A Horse.

A horse is truly the one gift that just keeps on giving, and by giving I mean you keep giving all of your hard earned money to your horse…but I promise if you make this move, you will make the horse girl in your life so happy, and no other gift will ever live up to it. So you can just quit now, and never buy her anything else your entire life.

Well, except for feed, vet bills, new tack, shows, lessons, or anything else the horse listed above may need…you get it.

#2. The Perfect Horse Property.

You are going to need a place to keep that horse. You know those Facebook posts she keeps “jokingly” tagging you in? Well I have a news flash for you. She isn’t joking. She really does want that 10,000 square foot mansion of a barn, with 100 stalls. Let’s be honest, if you buy a 10 stall barn she will probably fill it up in 10 short months. 1 new horse a month is totally doable, because once you have your own place she will want to rescue and save every horse she comes across on the internet that need to be rescued.

#3. A Covered Arena.

She can’t ride that horse during the winter, or summer, or actually if you are in Texas, you can’t ride any time of year without a covered arena because she will MELT, and if it isn’t a scorching 100 degrees and 99.9% humidity, she will be freezing outside, so you should probably make it an indoor arena with climate control.

#4. A New Saddle.

Ok, I get it, the suggestions above may be a little ambitious. If you are looking for something more practical, why not get her the custom saddle of her dreams. This is one anyone can do. A custom saddle for every horse in that 100 stall barn that she now owns *see #2* should cost just shy of 1 million dollars.

Did you know every horse has to have their own saddle? Well now you do, so buckle up and get ready.

#5. A Shopping Spree at Her Favorite Tack Store.

Ok, I am serious here. A shopping spree at her favorite tack store should be totally doable for every horse husband/boyfriend/significant other. Give her a giant bag or box and tell her to go crazy and fill it up with whatever she wants. With the going rate of most items at the tack store being somewhere around $300/each a small bag should get you out of there for less than 10k depending on how thrifty she is.

Now onto the real gifts that 99.99999% of those horse husbands can actually afford after paying for the horse they already have and all of those vet bills during the year.

#1. Portraits with Their Horse

Want something truly unique, so that the horse girl in her life can truly take her horse everywhere with her + you will get to wake up every day and see her precious horse adorning the walls of your home. Find an amazing Equine Photographer and gift her a portrait session with her once in a lifetime horse. Trust me, this is truly a gift that will last a lifetime.

Shameless plug here, guess what horse husbands?! I am a photographer and I can hook you up with a beautiful Gift Certificate to gift her for Christmas. Just shoot me an email and tell me you want in on the most perfect Christmas Gift there is at Equine@KarindaK.com

#2. Horse Decor or Art

Every equestrian loves a piece of equestrian decor for their home. Head to the nearest antique store and look for a truly unique vintage print or horse statue. Check out Etsy for hundreds of options of makers that offer horse items, and even custom art pieces of her very own horse. Look for prints of wild horses, or just plain beautiful horses frolicking out in the field. Equestrian Art is a site that features horses from around the world, and you can get prints in any size in a variety of finishes from prints to canvas gallery wraps.

#3. Horse Jewelry

Does the horse girl in your life love to wear jewelry? When it comes to equestrian jewelry there are so many options from bracelets made of your very own horse’s hair by Tail Spin Bracelets (spoiler alert, horse people love this, even through you might think it sounds weird, just trust me on this), to simple delicate pieces or even more extravagant pieces covered in lavish diamonds. The world is your playground here, you can go in so many directions so have fun with this.

#4. Something from your Local Tack Shop

I am always a fan of shopping locally, so head to your local tack store, my favorite in the Houston area is Charlotte’s Saddlery, or shop at the horse shows she attends. Chances are they will be able to help you find the perfect gift for the horse girl in your life. If she regularly shops there, they can probably even look up what size she wears, and if you are lucky, they may even know the items that are at the top of her wish list!

Here is an extra super secret hint for you, go to her horse shows with her this winter act interested while you walk through the vendor area, this should give you a pretty good idea of what she wants…then sneak away at some point and go buy her that cute jacket she was eyeing.

If she shows at Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, TX you can always try reaching out to some of the amazing vendors that frequent the shows there like LuxeEq, Fab Finds by Sarah, or Exceptional Equestrian.

#5. IOU Horse Hubby Coupons

If you want to be really thrifty and you know her love language is acts of kindness, put together a little acts of kindness book for her with horse things on them. You could put little coupons to clean her tack, wash her horse laundry, maybe even bathe her horse, clean stalls, do one early morning feeding, heck, you could even throw one in there to go to a horse show and hang out the entire weekend if you are feeling adventurous.

I would like to say thank you to each and every horse Hubby/Significant Other out there that puts up with us horse girls, we know we can be difficult at time, and we know it can be hard to deal with our constant trips to the barn…but you also know that we would lose our minds and go cray if it wasn’t for them, so thank you for putting up with it.
