AVENTINUS | 7 YEAR OLD AMERICAN WARMBLOOD GELDING | DRIPPING SPRINGS,TX

PacMan, Aventinus, is a American Warmblood Gelding. He is a Percheron-Throughbred cross. His sire is a Thoroughbred named Ali Afire, his dam is a Percheron. He was bred by Mark and Sherri.

PacMan is a pretty interesting guy, he is very snuggly and loves smelly feet. He loves attention and will make funny faces until someone notices him. If your cleaning his stall, he will breath deeply into the back of your neck. Alannah and PacMan are getting ready to show 3rd level this season. Pacman loves pleasing his rider. He is always trying to do the right thing and does it with a pep in his step.

Alannah of AM Dressage found him online as a 2 year old. Her and her trainer went to look at him when Mark and Sherri still lived in Waco,TX. “They had him turned out with a filly and they were cantering around together. I loved how he kept his distance from the filly, and he was smart enough not to get kicked.”

Alannah describes him in one word as “Guapo,” which is handsome in Spanish. He loves peppermints.

PacMan has qualified for championships every year since he was 4.  He has received scores in the mid 70s and in 2015 received 3rd in the nation for First Level in the AWS.

Alannah says that “At around 4 my grandfather would secretly take me for pony rides. When he realized I had the horse bug, he finally told my parents he was going to start taking me for riding lessons. I distinctly remember riding a grey Arabian mare in a tiny western saddle , who decided to roll with me on her. Quickly I jumped off – I think that was the beginning of my determination to ride these beasts! My first pony was a naughty POA that was abandoned at the ranch I was riding at. I bought her for the board the ex owners owed! This pony must’ve only been trained to pull a cart. She would only trot and woah. I had the HARDEST time cantering. I tried EVERYTHING. I remember the other little girls hanging on the rail, watching and laughing. Nothing was going to stop me! I showed that pony in the hunters, and little bit of jumpers, and then dabbled in 3 day eventing. At the time, I hated dressage.. haha! Horses are my therapy, even though this is my profession, I remind myself everyday that I do this for me! I don’t let money get in the way of bettering myself and my riding. I’ve realized if I don’t ride for more than 3 days, I can get very grumpy! My family can attest to that!”

Alannah shares a few of her best kept tips and tricks for horses. “I brush my horses tails every ride! I make sure to wash and condition often and keep a nice detangler in it, if not, you’re just pulling the hair out or breaking it. I try not to pull manes, when I can- I just cut and thin out.” I can attest to the fact that her horses have fabulous tails! “We have a special curry tool, an old groom made with duck tape and a shedding blade- love it! I make sure to always wipe everyone’s face with a damp towel, including ears and nostrils. I love to teach them to pick up their feet from one side makes life so much easier!”

Alannah’s favorite memory of PacMan is the first time he went over a jump! He has probably only done it like twice. She said the first time, he was so willing and sweet about it. “Just lifted those cute little knees. Must’ve gotten it from his daddy.”
