This gorgeous Gray mare currently lives at Becky George Show Horses in Hockley,TX. Meg is a very laid back girl, who excels at trail. She even lets her owner’s 16 month old granddaughter rider her. Jana’s daughter shows her in AQHA all around events. Jana shares that her favorite thing about riding when she used to ride was just being able to lose all of the stress of the world while she was riding.

In 2013 Jana’s daughter first tried Meg at a show in Ft. Worth. Jana remembers how her daughter smiled the entire first time she rode Meg, and knew at that moment that they would be getting a new horse! They actually traded a futurity pleasure mare they had at the time for Meg.

This perfect gal loves Apples, Cookies, and Mandarins.

Meg was the 2014 Congress Champion in Novice Amateur Train, in 2016 she was 6th at Congress in Amateur Trail, and 5th in Level 2 Amateur Trail. Jana shares that “My daughter winning the Congress was a lifetime thrill.” I can only imagine the amount of emotions that happened in that very moment! Winning Congress is such a HUGE accomplishment!

Houston Horse Photography | Karinda K Texas Equine Photography | equine.karindak.comJana has owned horses all of her life, her father first bought her a horse after her mother passed away when Jana was just 20 years old. Jana started showing and training on her own and learned a lot. When Jana’s daughter came along she started showing more and Jana took a step back so her daughter could show. As a Mom, Jana has found that it is easier to let her daughter learn from trainers. They have had many horses over the years and have been in the business for 40 years. “Just going out to the barn and being around horses brings me peace.”

Jana’s tip for everyone is to do lots of brushing and grooming on your horse. “Not only is it good for the horse and your soul, but you learn so much about your horse from touching them.” She also shares that working with just a halter and lead rope, and teaching your horse showmanship is a great way to get to know your horse as it enables you to place their feet and bodies where you want them.

Meg has a 2016 baby on the ground that Jana hopes will fill her Momma’s shoes and turn out to be just as good as Meg one day.

Jana’s favorite story about his special horse is about her experience with Equestrians with Disabilities. “In 2014, we loaned Meg to a lady to show at the NSBA World Show in Walk/Trot Trail and Western Pleasure for Equestrians with Disabilities. This lady suffered a brain injury in a car accident, but loves to ride. My daughter let her wear her show vest to make her feel like the rest of the riders. Meg was so good and quiet for her. The lady ended up winning two thirds and two large bronze trophies. It was very emotional and heartwarming for us.”
