I first met Amanda of Cowgirl Equestrienne on Instagram, when she reached out to me about being feature on our weekly What to Wear Wednesday blog post. As luck would have it she lives in the San Francisco/Bay Area, and I was getting ready to head to California that following week. As soon as I found out, I knew we had to meet up!
I love getting to meet bloggers and social media influences wherever I travel, and it is even so much more fun when we can work together on a collaboration. As luck would have it, our schedules matched up perfectly and I was able to go out and photograph Amanda in what I am going to call her “signature look.” It didn’t take long to realize after looking through Amanda’s Instagram feed that she has this super unique take on equestrian style.
Amanda’s Mom was a fox hunter & show jumper, and her Dad was a rancher…so it was only natural for Amanda to take these two styles and fuse them together. I don’t think I have ever met anyone that had taken two styles that are so vastly different and fused them together so perfectly. As her name suggests, she has taken her ranch roots, and found ways to keep those alive while still sporting that timeless equestrian look.
I am going to share with you some of the tips she shared to pull of that perfect mix and incorporate the “cowgirl” into your equestrian look.
Go for the flashy belt. Wether it is tooled, beaded, fringe, or blinged out, a belt is the perfect way to mix in that “western” edge to any equestrian look.
Boots. The words breeches and cowboy boots have never been two things I have associated with one another… but can I just say for one second… Amanda must be a genius, because she pulls it off…all while still looking like she is straight off of the pages of a high fashion magazine. Seriously. Cowboy boots, breeches, and a Chanel sweater?! It was perfection.
The Cowboy Hat. Amanda yet again, blows me out of the water, when she pulls out her Black felt cowboy hat. Paired with her denim breeches, white shirt with ruffle detailing, show coat, and tall boots. I just want to bring her back to Texas and let her dress me everywhere I go, because I know a lot of girls that would just go absolutely crazy over the way Amanda puts together these looks.
Most of Amanda’s equestrian items come from Carousel Saddlery in Portola Valley,CA. She is also an avid deliver in sustainable fashion. She often times shops high end consignment stores, and finds many designer items at a fraction of the cost including the Chanel Sweater she wore in the picture with her horse.
Want to shop these looks? Don’t worry, we will be posting a detailed wrap up of each of Amanda’s looks in the coming weeks so check back.
