Bentley, Face It Im Famous, is a white faced buckskin Paint Gelding.

I photographed Bentley at Firecreek Stables in Waller,TX where he trains with Sally Elliot. Bentley is a very outgoing horse that loves to be around other horses and people. He even loves cats and dogs. His favorite snack is strawberry portraits. He is super loving and always wants to be the center of attention. At horse shows he can be found laying down and sleeping at night.

His owner and rider Sophia does western horsemanship, trail, and showmanship with him. They also sometimes do english pattern classes and the rail classes. Sophia loves to do horsemanship because that is his favorite class and he always does well in that class.

The pair first found each other when Sophia’s trainer discovered him in Colorado. They watched many videos of him, but still weren’t sure if they would purchase him. Sophia’s parents ended up shipping him down from Colorado to Texas and surprised her! The first time the two met was after Bentley’s 36 hour trailer ride when he arrived at their house in Magnolia,TX around 2am. It was love at first site, and Sophia was so excited to see him. Sophia is super thankful for her wonderful trainer that found him and continues to help them work together as a team. Sally is great and knowing just the right things to do to ensure the pair succeeds.

Sophia describes Bentley in one word, extraordinary. I think this fits him well, he is a 3 time world champion in trail and horsemanship and has won so many high point awards for Sophia and others. Sophia has grown up with horses but really got into showing around a year ago. Her favorite part about owning horses is spending time with them. “The most important thing for me and my horse is our relationship. I think spending time with your horse and talking to them is very important when it comes to ridding. It helps because then you know everything about your horse, what they don’t like and do. I spend a lot of time in lessons to improve my riding skills and I spend just as much time riding Bentley bareback and playing around with him to build our relationship.”

This may be one of my favorite parts about the pairs story that Sophia shared “When Bentley came to be part of our family we got an added bonus of his previous owner becoming part of our family as well. She is part of this horse journey with us. We are in constant contact to talk about how much we love Bentley. It is also nice to have her background when things come up with Bentley. We thought he was colicing but weren’t sure. She told us what he had done in the past. Very helpful. She even sent me one of the buckles that they won together for me to wear. Face It Im Famous is a very loved guy.”

Sophia’s favorite memory is when they went to our first paint show and we did the best horsemanship pattern they had ever done and even ended up winning!
