TT REDNECK FLITERRISK | 7 YEAR OLD QUARTER HORSE MARE | KINGSVILLE,TX | Corpus Christi Equine Photographer
Risky, TT Redneck Fliterrisk, is a Quarter Horse. Her sire is Redneck Jet, who is currently one of the best pole bending stallions. She was bred and trained by Trent Tobin from Ohio.
Risky is one of Mackenzie Bryce’s many horses that she is currently competing on. Risky, the sorrel mare, is one of Mackenzie’s Pole Bending horses. In true mare fashion, she is a very unique horse with a quirky personality of her own. Mackenzie says that she can ride her every day in the same arena and she will always figure out right away if anything is out of place, she wants her arena at home to be perfect and everything to be in its place. The funny thing is, when they are traveling to rodeos and competitions she could care less and is all great! Oh, and she is so incredibly sweet, always up for being loved on. Mackenzie also shares that she is very photogenic, I happen to agree! That long mane and tail with that little white star are sure to win you over.
Mackenzie’s family owns FitHorse by Equatics Fitness Center in Kingsville,TX. They are a equine fitness and rehabilitation center offering services such as swimming, an aqua treadmill, and other therapeutic services. She is so incredibly lucky to have this and says that they try to swim their horses multiple times a week to help keep them in top shape, and I have to confess, every single horse in their barn was so incredibly fit it was amazing. Swimming the horses helps extend their competitive career because it reduces wear and tear on their joint while still keeping them in competition shape, it also can help increase their lung capacity and stamina for speed events.
The pair first met because Mackenzie’s grandmother’s good friend knew they were in the market for a pole bending horse and referred them to a guy who trains top notch pole horses. She visited the barn and spent several days with them riding different horses and searching for the perfect horse. The first time the pair went through the pattern Mackenzie says they “clicked, as if they had been together from day one.” Like any pair they occasionally can have a difference of opinion, but that only makes them grow stronger and Mackenzie loves her just as much as she did the first time she rode her, if not more.
Mackenzie says one word to describe Risky would be beautiful.
One of Risky & Mackenzie’s biggest accomplishments was the 2015 AQHA World Junior Pole Bending Champion. Risky has also won several youth rodeos as well.
One of Mackenzie’s favorite memories is the first time that Risky saw cows. They were in the arena riding, and there were cattle in the pasture next to the arena. Risky wasn’t too sure what to think of them and dumped Mackenzie. That was a first as Mackenzie had never been on a horse that was afraid of cattle until she owned Risky. I guess they don’t have cows in Ohio like they do here in Texas.
