ZAFIRA | 14 YEAR-OLD RHEINLANDER | MAGNOLIA, TX

Zoe, Zafira, is a 14-year-old Rheinlander Mare. She trains at PJP Farm in Magnolia, TX.

Zoe, the flea-bitten grey horse, possesses a set of distinctive characteristics that make her truly one of a kind. With a strong personality that cannot be ignored, Zoe has a mischievous way of teaching those around her about her preferences—through some unconventional means that may involve a few close calls! However, once you grasp her unique language, Zoe reveals her affectionate nature, showering those who understand her with an abundance of love. She is a particular mare, appreciating things to be just so, and her idiosyncrasies only add to her charm and allure.

Nanette, the proud owner of Zoe, discovered her in Germany, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey together. Having cherished Zoe’s companionship for nearly a decade now, Nanette fondly recalls their initial encounter, filled with a touch of adventure. As fate would have it, the first time they crossed paths, Zoe spiritedly whisked Nanette away, creating a memorable and slightly humorous moment. This lighthearted escapade, in hindsight, served as a testament to the spirited bond that would develop between Nanette and Zoe, laying the foundation for their enduring partnership.

Zoe has a clear favorite treat—carrots! These crunchy orange delights never fail to bring a sparkle to Zoe’s eyes and a spring to her step. Whether it’s a whole carrot or a tasty slice, Zoe’s enthusiasm is unmatched when it comes to this delectable snack. With each bite, her satisfaction is evident as she relishes the sweet and earthy flavors, savoring every moment of this delightful indulgence.

The remarkable horse with a determined spirit, has achieved notable accomplishments throughout her equestrian career. As a leading horse in Texas’ pre-green division, Zoe showcased her exceptional skills and talent, captivating the hearts of both competitors and spectators alike. However, just before the finals, she encountered a setback when an unexpected eye infection surfaced. Despite this temporary obstacle, Zoe’s accomplishments up until that point were a testament to her dedication and prowess in the world of horse riding. Her undeniable potential and remarkable journey continue to inspire those who have had the privilege of witnessing her remarkable abilities firsthand.

Nanette’s love for riding horses blossomed from her upbringing in the presence of these majestic creatures. Having been surrounded by horses since her early days, she discovered her passion for equestrian pursuits. What captivated Nanette the most was the profound bond that forms between humans and horses, a connection that transcends words. It was through this special bond that Nanette found joy in understanding and appreciating the diverse personalities of each horse she encountered. For her, riding became more than just a sport; it became an avenue for forging meaningful relationships and immersing herself in the fascinating world of these magnificent animals.

Nanette cherishes a particular story that exemplifies the unbreakable bond she shares with Zoe, a bond that has only grown stronger through their shared experiences with physical challenges. Zoe has faced the daunting obstacles of Laminitis and a severe eye infection, both of which initially instilled fear and uncertainty. However, against all odds, Zoe displayed incredible resilience and determination, surpassing expectations and healing completely. This triumphant journey of overcoming adversity not only deepened the connection between Nanette and Zoe but also served as a testament to their unwavering support for one another. It stands as a cherished reminder of the indomitable spirit that resides within Zoe and the remarkable bond that they share, inspiring Nanette with every step they take together.
