Meet Young American, “Bowie”, a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood who was bred in the Netherlands and imported to the US as a 9 yr old. He is a bay with a white blaze and two back white socks. Bowie is owned and loved by Jennifer Enderlin who trains with Claudia Conn out of Twisted Oak Farm in Bulverde, TX, however, Jennifer boards Bowie with Lida McAllister.
Jennifer shares that some of her favorite memories come from the simple pleasures with her sweet guy. Bowie is such a kind-hearted soul and after a long day at the office, seeing him always puts a smile on her face. These are the moments she looks forward to most. Bowie is incredibly laid back and the easiest horse she’s ever owned, with the exception of his fear of clippers (they terrify him!).
Jennifer found Bowie online & instantly fell in love with his cute expression and ‘nose to knees’ jump! He had been imported and was competing at Preliminary level Eventing at the time, but she loved his jump and hoped he would be suitable in the hunter ring. “It’s been fun introducing Bowie to a new sport. I think he sometimes is wondering where the cross-country start box is or why he has to do jump more than 1 round but seems to be settling into the different format well.”, says Jennifer.
Bowie is very food motivated and loves to paw at anyone in his proximity who might have a treat in their pocket. He is not picky when it comes to treats and will eat anything!!
Jennifer’s mom introduced her to horses at age 6 and she has been enjoying the sport her entire life. She first started in the hunter/jumpers, then played Polo at Texas Tech University where she attended college, she even competed in Eventing for a few years. In 2018, she decided to make the transition back into the hunter ring where she has been ever since!
