WHISKEY NEAT | 12 YEAR OLD KWPN | OCALA, TX
Tank, Whiskey Neat, is a KWPN Gelding. His sire is Quality Time TN and his dam is Burggraaf. He is trained by Natalee Newton Haggan at the MTM Farm.
Tank is a chestnut-colored horse with a striking blaze on his face. He stands out even more with his front stocks and back stockings, adding a unique touch to his appearance. But what truly sets Tank apart is his big personality – he loves being the center of attention and won’t shy away from it. Tank has an ego and knows he’s handsome, which makes him a competitive force to be reckoned with in the show ring. However, despite his competitive nature, he’s also a gentle giant. He’s incredibly patient with Lindsay’s 3-year-old daughter and enjoys being led around by her at the barn. Tank has even taken on the role of being her leadline pony at horse shows, a job he takes very seriously. It’s clear that Tank has a heart of gold and his unique blend of confidence and kindness makes him a truly special horse.
Lindsay has been the proud owner of Tank for two and a half years now. However, when Tank was first brought to the barn for Lindsay to try, she was hesitant to even sit on him. Being 5’7″, Lindsay had set a rule of “nothing under 16.2 hands”. But after reluctantly getting on Tank, Lindsay was immediately amazed. From the moment Tank started moving, Lindsay could see the fire and talent within him. After just one jump, Lindsay knew that she and Tank were meant to be together. It was love at first ride, and Lindsay is grateful that she didn’t let Tank’s size hold her back from discovering their special bond.
Tank absolutely loves peppermints stuffed inside horse treats! Whenever Lindsay brings out the bag of treats, Tank can’t help but get excited. His eyes light up, and he eagerly awaits his tasty reward. As soon as Lindsay gives him a treat, Tank can’t get enough of the sweet, minty flavor. He happily munches on the treat, savoring every last bite.
Lindsay’s love for riding horses began at a young age when she was living in Aberdeen, Scotland. She rode throughout her college years but never had the opportunity to own her own horse. Lindsay’s experience riding in Scotland gave her a unique perspective and a strong foundation in riding. However, after college, Lindsay took a break from riding for about 10 years before slowly getting back into it with just a couple of lessons per month. In 2018, Lindsay purchased her first horse, an OTTB, and later became the proud owner of Tank. Lindsay finds that riding horses has a therapeutic effect on her. Whenever she’s had a tough day or is feeling overwhelmed, spending time with her horses releases all of her tension and clears her mind. She truly believes that her partnership with her horses makes her a better wife, mother, and more patient person overall.
Lindsay has two favorite memories with Tank, and it’s easy to see why! The first was when they finished their very first 1.30m round together, which they not only completed but won! Lindsay had always wanted to compete in the Medium Jr/AO division, and Tank gave her the confidence to do so. After landing from their final jump, Lindsay was overcome with emotion, realizing that Tank had taken her from 1.10m and given her the confidence she never thought possible. Her second favorite memory was when Tank became her daughter’s Leadline pony in Tyler in September 2022. It was her daughter’s first time “showing” him, and he was an absolute angel. Tank posed for the camera and made Lindsay’s daughter feel just as special as he makes Lindsay feel. They have a picture from that day hanging in their house, and every time they look at it, it brings them immense joy!
