When Sunny Gets Blue, aka “Sunny”, is a 15-year-old Welsh Palomino Pony. Sunny is a stunning mare that has three white socks and a white blaze down her face. This darling Palamino is owned and ridden by 10-year-old Wesley Whitworth. The pair trains with Kalli Smith at Monarch Stables in Austin, TX.
Wesley shares one of her favorite memories with Sunny thus far was qualifying for Pony Finals for the second time. “It was Week I of Pin Oak 2022. We were showing in the Medium Pony Division. It was one of our best shows to date. Sunny was absolutely perfect! I’m proud of how far we’ve come and our successes. We placed Champion and won the Classic receiving a big beautiful neck ribbon. I had so much fun!”
Wesley and Sunny first met at Pony Finals in 2021. Wesley had been looking for her and when they finally came across her – it was love at first sight! They brought her home to Austin, TX in September of 2021 and have been together since.
Sunny is known for her fabulous personality. She knows many tricks, some of which include, touching her nose to her back foot on either side, smiling, and even bowing! She loves jumping – not so many flat lessons, she gets bored.
Sunny’s favorite treats are horse cookies with icing, bananas, and sparkling water.
You could say the love of equestrian runs in Wesley’s blood as it was passed down from her mom. She’s been watching her mom ride ever since she can remember. She herself started riding lessons at young toddler age. Now she and her mom are able to enjoy their love and passion for horses with one another.
