Voodoo | Brandenburg Gelding | Magnolia, TX

VOODOO | 8 YEAR-OLD BRANDENBURG | MAGNOLIA, TX

Voodoo is a Brandenburg Gelding. His sire is Valentino and his dam is Kir Royal. He trains with Peter Pletcher at PJP Farm in Magnolia, TX.

Voodoo, the chestnut horse with a striking flaxen mane and tail, has some truly unique and endearing characteristics that set him apart from the rest. To those who know him well, he’s often compared to a big dog or a playful toddler.

On the ground, Voodoo is a real sweetheart. He loves to be showered with affection and enjoys nothing more than having his ears scratched or being played with. You’ll often catch him trying to play with zippers or strings on hoodies, as he just can’t resist the temptation to investigate and play.

Madison, Voodoo’s loving owner, owes a debt of gratitude to her trainers at PJP Farm for discovering Voodoo. They found him for her at Ashland Farm, and Madison’s first encounter with Voodoo was in the pouring rain. Despite the less-than-ideal weather, Madison was immediately smitten with him. She couldn’t help but notice his fantastic personality and calm demeanor. For a young horse, nothing seemed to phase him, which Madison thought was remarkable. After showing him at WEF Premiere, she knew she had to have him and bought him just a week later.

When it comes to treats, Voodoo the horse is a big fan of bananas! Voodoo knows exactly what he wants and isn’t afraid to let you know it. If you’re lucky enough to be in his stall with him, he’ll expect some tasty treats and won’t hesitate to rest his head on your shoulder until he gets them. He can’t get enough of the sweet, fruity taste and loves nothing more than chomping down on a ripe, juicy banana. That said, he’s not too picky when it comes to treats and will happily accept whatever tasty morsels Madison has to offer. Peppermints are another one of Voodoo’s favorites, coming in a close second to his beloved bananas. Whether it’s fruit, candy, or something else entirely, Voodoo’s always happy to indulge in a tasty treat!

Madison’s passion for horse riding began when she was just 8 years old after she went to take a lesson with a friend from school. Her parents were quick to recognize her budding interest and got her very own horse just six months into her riding journey. From that moment on, Madison has been completely smitten with horses and the sport of riding. Her love for these majestic animals has only grown stronger over the years, and she continues to ride and compete to this day. Thanks to that fateful lesson with her friend, Madison discovered a lifelong passion that has brought her so much joy and fulfillment.

Although Madison hasn’t owned Voodoo for very long, she’s already made so many wonderful memories with him. One of her favorites was when she bought him at WEF in Wellington in January and went on to show him in the Big Eq and Junior Hunters. Madison especially loved showing Voodoo in the international ring during hunter week, and she was overjoyed when he was named Champion in the 15-17 Jr. Eq at Pin Oak Week 2. Madison cherishes the time she spends with Voodoo, and she loves learning all about his unique personality. From the very first moment she met him, Madison knew that Voodoo was a special horse, and she feels so grateful to have him in her life.
