Toscane de L’isle, is owned by Avery and goes by Toscane. Toscane is a 14-year-old Selle Français. This stately grey mare is incredibly sweet and loves apples. They train with Kersten Levine at Esoteric Farm in Austin, TX.
Toscane is grey with a large brown birthmark on her left hind quarter. She is by Mylord Carthago and out of Farandole Violaine. Avery was in love with Toscane from the first time they picked up the trot. She had tried several horses at that point but knew Toscane was the one for her. One of the things that drew Avery to her was that she always felt safe with Toscane. Toscane used to be Martien’s, from Marlac Farm, Grand Prix mare.
Toscane is a very forgiving mare and has helped Avery gain confidence in the saddle. One of Avery’s favorite memories is when they went for a hack outside of the ring. They were riding around and Toscane kept whinnying at all of the horses. Then as soon as Avery asked her to canter she took off and was just so happy. Toscane is a mare that takes her job seriously so Avery loved seeing her happy, relaxed, and in her element.
Avery started riding at a horse camp when she was 5 and had her first pony by 6. She loves working with horses and figuring out what they need from her to have the best partnership they can.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2021 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 140 Horses, Dogs, and even Goats, and was able to donate $10,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston. These are the stories of the Horses, Dogs, and Goats that were photographed at the show, these stories complement a photographic book that Karinda is printing and donating to Texas Children’s Hospital featuring Portraits of each and every animal she photographed.
