Tomorrowland “Tommy” | Madrone Ranch Stables | Austin, TX

Meet Tomorrowland, “Tommy”, who is a 6-year-old Oldenburg bay with a white dipped nose and three white socks. Tommy’s sire is Vivant Van De Heffinck and his dam is Victoria M&M.  Tommy is ridden and adored by Priya who lives in Austin, TX where she trains with Rachel Lindsay at Madrone Ranch Stables.

After a long two weeks of competing in Ocala, Priya and Jackie (Priya’s mom) decided they needed photos of both horses on the beautiful grounds of WEC.  Priya and Greetings had just competed in their first derby and so they were feeling very fancy and proud of themselves.  Well, Tommy had been napping but when summoned decided that a walk would be ok with him. “We walked across the entire facility to try and find the perfect backdrop for our photo session. Just as everyone got turned and positioned just right Tommy woke up and decided to “smile” for the camera.  He was showing his baby teeth and making the craziest noises and of course, standing in his awkward stance.  Needless to say we didn’t get that “perfect” photo that day between Tommy’s smiles, big brother Greetings looking at him like he was crazy and Priya laughing in every photo.  But the photos we got still make us laugh and remember how fun we always have with our baby Tommy boy!”

“Our trainer, Rachel, had been helping us look for a small horse that fit 5’1” Priya. Tommy came to the barn but no one at first thought of him for Priya because he was such a baby. But after he had been at the barn for a week and everyone saw how gentle and “unaffected” he was, they decided one day to put Priya on him for a lesson and didn’t tell her much about him.  She immediately thought he was the cutest horse ever and wondered why his teeth were so small but didn’t think much about it.  After a fun lesson, Priya finally asked what his story was and how old to which Rachel laughed and told her, he was only 5!  It was instant love…Priya had her baby.”

“Tommy is the sweetest funniest horse on the planet. He loves to “smile” for photos and is constantly standing awkwardly. He loves to love and is always trying to drink Jackie’s drinks and crawl into her lap. He even tried to get in a golf cart with her one time!”

Tommy will eat anything but his favorite treats are peppermints and molasses cookies…he is still learning how to eat apples.

Tommy had a clean sweep and placed Champion for his first time competing in the 3’ Young Hunter’s at Pin Oak 2022.

Priya was 3 when she noticed horses and tried to crawl over the fence to get to them at her godmother’s ranch. Her mom, Jackie, made a promise that she could take lessons when she was 6, so on her 6th birthday, Priya reminded her mom of the promise and within a few weeks, she was in the saddle.  It was an instant obsession that has lasted for the past 9 years. Now 15, Priya still says that horses are her favorite thing to do. They “fill her cup” and give her peace and joy. She shares her favorite thing about owning horses is being able to enjoy the responsibility of caring for them and growing relationships with them.
