Texas Equine Photographer | Z the Holsteiner
Z, Zoraja TSH, is a Holsteiner Mare. Her sire is Chicardo, her dam is Ursula I who is by Cathalido. This fancy grey mare was bred by Triple “S” Holsteiners. Z and is currently in training at Oldenbroek-Tabor Sporthorses in Medina, TX.
Zoraja is an incredibly elegant gray mare that is owned by Connie. I was so incredibly excited to photograph this gorgeous girl especially after I got to see her going at the dressage show in Katy the week prior. Connie shares that she thinks everything about her is special. She likes to be trailered, even by herself! This pair competes in dressage.
Connie says that her favorite thing about Zoraja is that, “She is never the same, which is also her least favorite thing.” I think each and every person that has ever ridden a horse can attest to this, it can be such a great challenge but also can be a little frustrating at times. Let’s be honest, I don’t think there are many of us that can actually say our horses are the same every time they ride..and who would want that anyways?! That wouldn’t be any fun.
Connie first found Zoraja when Joshua suggested her for Connie. Connie has had Z for almost 4 years. The first time the pair met, Z turned her nose up at Connie. She was so big and could be a little aloof at times. Connie says she has changed so much since then. She likes for you to think she doesn’t enjoy the attention but really does. This must be a mare thing because my mare Lucy does the same thing.
Z loves everything from carrots, apples, and horse cookies! Sometimes even just cookies if she can get her mouth on them!
In 2015 Zoraja was accepted into the Main Mare Back for the Holsteiner mares and was Site Champion at her inspection. She also completed the requirements for the Mare Performance Test.
Connie has has horses for over 30 years, before Zoraja, Connie owned Arabians and did endurance riding. Connie shares that silver shampoo is a grey horse owners best friend.
