MURPHY LES HAUTS | 12 YEAR OLD BELGIAN WARMBLOOD GELDING | MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX
Murphy, Murphy Les Hauts, is a 12 year old Belgian Warmblood gelding whose Sire is Ugano Sitte and Dam is Ramona Van De Hulst. Murphy is a dark bay with two white hind pasterns. He is owned by Shelli Harris and the pair train at Tally Ho Farm in Montgomery, TX.

Murphy, also known as “Smurphy”, is a big, giant teddy bear and a total lap dog. He loves attention of any kind such as grooming, bathing, scratches, and snuggles. He will even lick your hand! Murphy loves all of the basic horse treats: carrots, mints, and apples, but funny enough, he also enjoys Oreos.
The trainers at Tally Ho found Murphy for Shelli after she had been looking for a horse for over a year, and she fell in love after the first ride. She has now owned him for a little over a year and he has taken her from the .95 meter jumper classes at Pin Oak in 2023 to the 1.30/1.35 meter classes at Pin Oak 2024. Shelli says, “he is just the best boy”, and that in addition to their success in the ring, “he has received my personal award of life saver/angel.”
Shelli grew up riding and started when she was 9 years old, but retired right before starting college. However, 30+ years later she found herself back in the saddle and has been back to riding for a couple of years now. Shelli is so glad she returned to riding and loves it even more than she did before. She said, “I wish I hadn’t waited so long to return!”

Shelli’s favorite memory with Murphy couldn’t be narrowed down to a single moment during their year-long partnership, since there have been so many amazing ones. She speaks of his incredible character and says, “This horse is a saint. He literally saves me every time I make a horrible, amateur decision. I love him because he continuously bails me out of bad situations and never gets mad about it.” With a relationship like this one, there will certainly be many more memories to be made and fun to be had as their partnership continues.
