Meet 6-year-old Silver Coast, “Casey”, a Dutch Warmblood standing at 17.2hh. This gentle giant is a grey dappled gelding with a black-ish mane. Casey is owned and loved by Wendy Patterson. He lives in New Caney, TX at Pine Hollow Farm where the pair trains with Will Roberts.
Wendy hasn’t owned Casey for long, it wasn’t until recently the pair tackled their first few horse show as a team. When asked to share her favorite memory with Casey, Wendy mentioned this. “I’ve not had Casey very long but his tagline would be: “I jump jumps”, as he is always looking for the next one in the ring.” shared Wendy.
Wendy’s trainer, Will Roberts, found Casey. “While I knew the minute I saw him standing outside the ring he was “the one”, I was pragmatic about it. I had recently lost a horse and really wasn’t in the emotional mood to buy another. But Will and my husband, Mark laid out all of Casey’s good points, so how could I resist? I can say now I love him!”
Wendy describes Casey as a “camera ham”. Outside the ring, he always wants something in his mouth, very playful, as most 6-year-olds tend to be, but in a kind gentle way. In the ring, he is all business. He knows his job and is ready to jump!
When it comes to treats, Casey doesn’t discriminate amongst any treats, like most horses over at Pine Hollow. They are no strangers to a yummy treat.
Wendy started riding at age 10 up until college. She later got back into the sport as an adult rider in 2003 when she purchased a horse. Casey is the 5th horse she’s had since then. “Riding horses keeps me sane,” says Wendy. “I am thankful my husband supports the time it takes.”
