SHE’S EPIC | 10 YEAR OLD HOLSTEINER | MAGNOLIA, TX
Fiona, She’s Epic, is a Holsteiner Mare. Her sire is Chin Champ who is by Chin Chin. Her dam is Naomi XXIIII who is by Alcatraz. Fiona lives and trains at TKO Sporthorses by Trapp and Hanley O’Neal.
Fiona is a light bay horse with a tiny star and snip on her nose. Known for her sweet and gentle nature, she’s a joy to be around. Her love for scratches is unmatched, and at shows, she will put her neck up as close to the stall as she possibly can so she can get pats. Despite her size, she’s incredibly patient and never drags her owner around when taken for walks or grazing. Fiona is a true gem among horses, and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting her can attest to that.
Avery, Fiona’s loving owner, found her through a fortuitous series of events. Originally imported from Germany by Epic Sport Horses, Avery was in the market for a horse to ride and grow with. When Hanley, Fiona’s trainer, showed Avery a video of Fiona, she just knew that this was the one. Despite going to Tryon to try out other horses, nothing could compare to the feeling she had about Fiona. Finally, the day arrived when Fiona arrived in the US, and Avery was able to ride her. The connection was instant, and she knew in her heart that Fiona was meant to be hers. It was a match made in heaven, and the pair have been inseparable ever since.
When it comes to treats, Fiona has a clear favorite – peppermints! But not just any peppermints – she’s very particular about them being regular; the puffy ones just won’t do. In fact, she’s so set in her ways that she won’t even bother with puffy peppermints. It’s clear that this sweet mare has a refined taste when it comes to her snacks, and her love for peppermints is unwavering.
Avery’s love for horses goes way back to her childhood. At the age of 12, Avery got the chance to start riding when her family moved to California for a couple of years. She’s been riding since then and has come a long way from her early days as a beginner rider. Riding green horses has helped Avery become a more flexible rider, and she’s had the opportunity to work with some amazing people who have helped her grow in her riding career. For Avery, owning a horse is like having a family member. Trust is essential between horse and rider, and she knows that when she gives her horse the world, they will do the same for her. Riding horses has become a passion for Avery, and she can’t imagine her life without them.
Avery’s favorite memory with Fiona is a fun and unexpected one. One day, while hanging out with Fiona in the pasture, Avery had a bag of Doritos with her. Without warning, Fiona became curious about what Avery was holding and stuck her nose right into the bag. To Avery’s surprise, Fiona ended up taking the bag straight out of her hands. It was a comical and memorable moment that Avery will never forget. Despite the hijacking of her snack, Avery couldn’t help but laugh and enjoy the company of her beloved mare. It’s moments like these that make their bond even stronger and demonstrate just how special their relationship truly is.
