Meet Sheldon, a gorgeous 3-year-old Golden Retriever. He is loved and cared for by Lauren. These two reside in Flower Mound, TX at Homeward Farms.
Sheldon is the friendly greeter at the farm and takes his job very seriously. Always bounding up to visitors representing Homeward whether at home or at a show. In fact, one of his first show experiences was at the Kentucky Horse Park and he was 5 months old. He was such a cute little fluff ball of love and kisses and everyone welcomed him around the grounds. He was even given a puppacino when he wandered off.
Sheldon is very emotionally intelligent. If anyone ever falls off at home, he is the first one to run out to the arena and he will lay himself on top of the person to make sure that they are okay. Or if anyone ever screams, he will run right up to them to make sure they are okay. He has a huge heart and is the caretaker at the barn.
Sheldon came into Lauren’s life kind of on accident. She was at a friend’s house adjusting her horses and her friend said that they needed to go see the cute golden retriever puppies that her neighbor had. So they went over and played with them and of course, they were adorable. There was only one boy in the litter and he had already been claimed so Lauren went about her business. About 2 weeks later, the breeder called her and said the people that had put a deposit down had backed out and asked if she wanted him. Lauren thinks it was fate Sheldon ended up with her.
Did you know that Golden Retrievers can trace their origins back to Scotland? They make fantastic therapy dogs, are a hard-working breed, and have been on the top ten list of best breeds for decades.
