Every horse has a story, and today, we’re excited to introduce you to Shanroe Santos, Oso, the 14 year old Irish Sport Horse who’s captured the heart of his owner Adelyn Fears. Oso resides at Hilltop Farm, where he trains under the guidance of the talented Gina Piccinni. This environment has been instrumental in helping Adelyn and Oso build their bond and improve their skills together.
Before purchasing Oso in December 2023, Adelyn had taken a nearly ten-year break from the show circuit. Her first experience with Oso in the ring was nothing short of magical. “He made me feel so much more confident, and I was able to step up into a new division really quickly,” Adelyn recalls. This first show solidified their partnership, setting the stage for a future filled with accomplishments and new challenges. Adelyn is thrilled to continue climbing the competitive ladder with Oso by her side.
Oso wasn’t just a random find; he was a familiar face. He belonged to another rider at Hilltop Farm who was heading off to college. Having watched Oso for years, Adelyn always admired his charm and athleticism. “I feel so lucky to have been able to add him to the family,” she says, reflecting on how special it is to have him in her life.
Oso is a sweetheart with a brave heart. He adores being groomed and loves the attention he gets. His honesty in the ring and eagerness to tackle any challenge set before him are traits that make him stand out. Whether it’s a rigorous training session or a leisurely hack through the fields, Oso gives his all. Plus, he’s a big fan of snacks—carrots and apples are his favorites, and he’s always ready for a tasty treat!
Adelyn’s love for horses began at age seven, when she was fortunate enough to receive her first horse. Over the years, she’s built a deep bond with these incredible animals, especially with Oso’s “older brother,” who has been a part of her life for 23 years. “I love how much these amazing animals become a part of our lives,” she shares, looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead with Oso.
Oso is not just a horse; he’s a partner in every sense of the word. From their memorable first show to the exciting future ahead, Adelyn and Oso are set to create many more beautiful memories together. With their passion for riding and dedication to each other, there’s no telling how far this dynamic duo will go!
