San Francisco Equine Photographer | Black Background Portraits | Ragazoo the Oldenburg

Meet Ragazoo, the ever so incredible goofy Oldenburg. If I could describe him in one word, I don’t think that would even be possible, because quite honestly it would take a thousand to describe this incredibly sweet yet complex boy. I am certain his Mom Staysea is reading this thinking, yep she is 100% correct. Also, the reason I had to share this side by side comparison of silly Ragazoo, and serious Ragazoo to start out the blog.

Ragazoo, yes I know, it is a bit of a tongue twister the first few times you say it, but it suits him perfectly, is a 7 year old Oldenburg gelding who lives at Baywood Equestrian Center. I photographed him along with a few of his friends while in the San Francisco/Bay Area for one of my annual trips to photograph horses.

Staysea was the fifth person to go look at him, to purchase him, and his previous Mom shared that she was going to be extremely picky about who was going to be his next Mom. His previous owner owned him, his sister, and mother, and raised Ragazoo from birth. Staysea rode him and was so taken by his silly yet sweet personality that she came back the next day to ride him again, and knew immediately that she wanted to take him home.

“When we came to the part of striking a deal she asked me well what do you think?  I turn the question back on her …well what do you think?  There  was a pause and I said with tears in my eyes I would love to take him home with me , she also with tears in her eyes said Ragazzo and I have been waiting for you …. this was meant to be. I felt like the luckiest lady in the world. I have been blessed with many lovely horses in my life but I have been waiting for my extra special one for many years… the wait is over!!!”

Staysea’s favorite thing about Ragazoo is his puppy dog like personality, and since Staysea is also a dog trainer, it is just like having a big around. The pair is working their way up the levels in dressage, and they hope to make it all the way to the Grand Prix ring, which is one of Staysea’s lifelong dreams.
