Quirrell is a 13-year-old Brandenburg who lives in Colleyville, TX, and was owned by Georgia. However, Georgia went off to college not too long after Pin Oak and Quirrell is now owned by Julie. You will meet her other horse, Dalilah, in this book. Georgia and Quirrell trained at Foxglen Farm with Jim and Joan Hensen.
Quirrell is an inquisitive, dark bay with a white star and a big personality. He was imported from France and has had a successful career thus far. One of Georgia’s favorite memories of Quirrell was the 2019 Pin Oak Horse Show. Quirrell was a “superstar” that week. One week he won almost all of his over-fences rounds and ended up being champion in the younger children’s division. He also won the classic that week getting my highest score at the time of an 87! It was a weekend full of smiles and treats.
Quirrell is just as talented on the flat as he is over fences. Georgia loved to ride him and always felt confident in his abilities. Quirrell has a big personality and loves to be the goofball at the center of everyone’s attention. He loves all of the treats and snacks but his very favorite is bananas!
Georgia began riding at age six after her mom promised she could start taking lessons, but not until she turned 6-years-old. Her mom rode for the equestrian team at Florida State University. Georgia absolutely loves riding and has owned four horses over the years. Her favorite part about owning horses? Learning all of their personalities, and she said that Quirrell has the most playful personality of them all.
Did you know that horses need their hooves to be trimmed regularly? The person who does the trimming is called a “farrier.”

These are the stories of the Horses, Dogs, and Goats that were photographed at the show, these stories complement a photographic book that Karinda is printing and donating to Texas Children’s Hospital featuring Portraits of each and every animal she photographed.
