Playin Freckles Rip, “Mercy”, is a 17-year-old American Quarter Horse owned and adored by Maegan Stanley. This sweet mare is a roan bay with a star and a snip on her face. Mercy’s breeders are in Blanch’s. Her sire is Stylish Cee Lena and her dam is Freckles Star Bunny. Mercy’s bloodline has many World Champion Cutters, which is what she was bred for but she enjoyed jumping a lot more! The pair train in San Antonio, TX at Russell Equestrian Center with John Russell.
Mercy is a rescue. “We got her from our first barn that wasn’t very kind to their horses about 6 years ago. The first time I met her she followed me around like a puppy and I knew she was the one! At our first show, my girth was too loose and my saddle slipped almost 100% underneath her in the middle of our last combination but she still finished the class and won it without spooking or freaking out. She is literally bomb-proof.”, shared Maegan.
Mercy has a very special personality, she doesn’t even think she’s a horse half the time! She loves being the center of attention and doesn’t stand still unless you pet her and call her pretty. She is a very competitive horse and wants to please, but she wants to please using her own ideas.
Mercy’s favorite treats include bulges, Orange Gatorade, and any human food she can reach, which has included breakfast tacos, donuts, potato chips, peanut butter M&M’s (but only peanut butter), animal crackers, and pink monster drinks. Needless to say, Mercy isn’t shy when it comes to trying new things and loving treats!
“I started riding horses because one of my friends had a birthday party at a barn and I begged my parents for lessons. I have been riding horses for 11 years now and have owned Mercy for 6 of those years. My favorite thing about owning a horse is the very special and unique bond I have with my girl.”
