This past Wednesday I was invited by a good friend to attend the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show event at Laurie’s Home Furnishings.
First, let me tell you, if you haven’t been to Laurie’s Home Furnishings in Tomball, you have to go now! They have some gorgeous home decor items and furniture, and right now it looks like a Christmas wonderland.
Second, if you haven’t ever attended a Pin Oak horse show or event, this next year I am going to challenge you to change that! Growing up I remember going to the Pin Oak Grand Prix each and every year, it is the perfect event for people of all ages. If you have a little one that rides or even just LOVES horses, you have got to take them to the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Grand Prix. A little tip, stay till the very end when they present the ribbons, your little one may get lucky enough to get to pet some of the horses or even get a ribbon from one of the exhibitors.
One of my favorite memories of the Grand Prix was the silent auction, my Mom always loved silent auctions. I remember one year specifically, I was in the barn with a friend watching the warm-up arena, when my Mom called me and said “I just bought that horse! Come upstairs!” Instantly panic set in, what had my mom done, did she buy a Grand Prix Jumper?! Well, I ran upstairs to her holding a picture of a little chestnut filly. She said, “Look!! I won!!” Little did I know that, the 2 year old filly out of the Hanoverian stallion Cabalito my Mom decided to buy after falling in love with her when they walked her into the arena to talk about the silent auction would become my favorite little red head that would teach me so much, go to college with me, and one day have our very first foal, Calypso.
Hopefully I have convinced you that Pin Oak is a great event to attend even if you are not an exhibitor or even a horse person, but if that hasn’t convinced you to attend Pin Oak in 2017, just come out to support their cause. Pin Oak is a Charity Horse Show, which means they support multiple charities through the year that support the healing of children. They support Texas Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Houston – Family Rooms, and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance.
Pin Oak hosts multiple charity events through the Pin Oak Club during the year to raise money for the charities they support. This year the events range from their What to Wear to that Equestrian Affaire, the amazing shopping and wine event at Laurie’s Home Furnishings, their Valobra Holiday Party (which I hear is fabulous), and even a Sporting Clays Classic.
If you want to be a part of these events you can join the Pin Oak Club online.
Very beautiful
