Meet Pearle, also known as Per Per, the affectionate 2-year-old German Shepherd known for her distinctive brown eyebrows and kind face. Pearle lives at home with the Shumway family and is a beloved member of their loving family.
Pearle’s adoption story is a heartwarming tale of connection and loyalty. “Pearle was adopted from Operation Kindness in Dallas. She was one of four in her litter of all girls who were named after Disney princesses. They brought them in one by one, and Pearle was the only one that wanted anything to do with me. She stuck to me like Velcro. At that moment, I knew she was mine,” Christina shares. Since that day, Pearle has been by Christina’s side, providing companionship and love.
Pearle’s favorite activities include car rides and watching the cart classes at horse shows. Her curiosity and enthusiasm make these moments special for both her and Christina.
Pearle loves to talk back, adding to her charming personality. Her playful interactions and loyalty make her a joy to be around.
Christina emphasizes the importance of rescuing dogs, noting that the best dogs are often those who are rescued. Pearle is a testament to this belief, bringing joy and companionship to her forever home.
The Shumway family and Pearle look forward to many more happy memories together, filled with adventures and love.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. With the help of the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show family, Karinda has raised over $30,000 for Candlelighter’s Houston since starting this project.
