Meet Paddington Bear, aka “Bear”, a 6-year-old black gelding pony who has only one small white sock. Although Bear’s breed is unknown, he was imported from Belgium and bred by a gentleman named Neil. Bear is ridden and adored by Liliya who trains with Courtney Lenkart out of South Haven Farm in Dallas, TX.
Liliya and Bear’s relationship is a new one, as she has owned him for a few months now. She shared that when she first met him, she was helping out her trainer, Courtney, who needed someone to hack a lazy pony…obviously not in the market for a new horse. Before Liliya knew it, she was showing him and adding a new member to the family!
Liliya shared that the first time she took him out to graze he had no idea what to do. So, she sat down in hopes that he’d put his head down and eat the grass. After a few times of this, he caught on and now knows the drill.
Bear is known to be extremely kind and extra gorgeous, but one thing that he does that none of Liliya’s other ponies do…he licks her like crazy. “He licks my face, arms, my neck…wherever he can get his tongue it is there!”
Bear loves carrots and lucky charm cereal bars!
Liliya has been riding horses for about 5 years now and is infatuated in every sense. She has always loved being around horses and enjoys the company and companionship she gets from them.
