MTM Checco “Checco” | White Background Portraits Texas

MTM Checco is an 11-year-old Oldenburg that lives in Lucas, TX. Everyone calls him “Checco.” He is owned and loved by Avery. They train with Britt McCormick at Elmstead Farm.

Checco is a handsome grey Oldenburg gelding. He has dapples on his coat and a silver mane and tail that seem to shimmer when the sunlight catches them. Dapples look like white circles on a horse, you can see them on Checco’s back and legs. Checco is by Checkland and out of Gina.

Avery has had Checco for almost two years now. When she went to MTM Farm to meet him they pulled him out of his stall and told her his name was ‘Checco.’ She knew instantly that he was going to be a perfect match since her other horse’s name is ‘Chacco.’ Checco is what Avery calls a ‘puppy dog’ with the personality of a Golden Retriever. Something funny about Checco is that he likes it when Avery plays with his tongue!

Avery and Checco have accomplished quite a bit since they began their partnership. They have won Champion in Med A/O at Pin Oak 2021, Winner of Welcome Stake Brownland 2021, and Champion Low A/O Kentucky Summer 2021. Avery’s favorite memory of Checco is winning the Welcome at Brownland. It was their first time in Brownland and only his second Welcome. Avery says ‘He was really good and quick in the jump-off and we ended up winning it. Later that week he also got to jump around his first Grand Prix!’

Avery started riding at age 8 and by the age of 12 had her first pony, which she still has today. She loves taking care of her horses and ensuring they’re in the best shape they can be in to compete competitively.

Did you know that horses have a gap in between two rows of teeth on their upper and bottom jaw? This allows for the bit to sit in a horse’s mouth without hurting their teeth. The teeth at the front of their mouth pull grass, hay, and feed for them to eat but the back teeth do most of the chewing.
