Mr. President | Belgian Warmblood Gelding | Tomball, Texas

MR. PRESIDENT | 12 YEAR OLD BELGIAN WARMBLOOD GELDING |TOMBALL , TX

Grover, Mr. President, is a 12 year old Belgian Warmblood gelding. Grover was bred by Frederic and Isabel Coens-De Rucker. Grover is owned by LeighAnn Taylor, and trains with Marien Van Der Hoeven at Marlac Farm.

Grover is a beautiful gray horse with a snip on his nose. His coat is not the only thing that makes him special though, Grover also loves people, snacks, trail-rides and of course all of the petting time he can get from his owner.

LeighAnn, Grover’s owner, found him through her trainer, Martien. Martien found Grover last February during Wellington. LeighAnn flew to Florida to try a few horses and when she got on Grover, LeighAnn had no doubt that he was special. LeighAnn shares that “he has the best show name & is gaining a fan club of horse friends that love to ride him when I can’t.”
When it comes to treats, Grover patiently waits for peppermints after the pair comes out of the show ring. Another treat that Grover anxiously waits for is Belvita Golden Oat cookies. He just can’t resist the irresistible taste of these treats. While Grover loves these treats, he doesn’t like when LeighAnn steals a bite or two because he wants the whole thing for himself.

LeighAnn, the proud owner of Grover, rode her first horse when she was eleven years old. When she started riding it was western pleasure, and she only participated one time. LeighAnn’s mom wanted her to try a different discipline before they bought her a horse. After LeighAnn did her first jumping lesson, she quickly knew that she would be saying bye to western pleasure. LeighAnn rode and showed all over until she was an adult. LeighAnn took a twenty-three year break and recently started back up in 2020. LeighAnn states that she has “been dubbed the queen of long breaks. Life gets in the way sometimes but the muscle memory is still there. I love the connection I have with Grover & how he takes care of me. Horses bring calmness to me & I call them my happy place.”

LeighAnn’s favorite memory with Grover is when his old owner posted a sweet message on instagram. LeighAnn knew from that post she had finally found my unicorn. The old owner also let me know what his favorite treats were & how much she was going to miss him but knew he found a great new home. LeighAnn explains that “this past year I have gotten to know Grover & all his different sides. I can say without a doubt he is a very happy horse & doesn’t have many quirks. He is such a special horse.”
