Metropolitan Z “Metro” | South Haven Farm Dallas Horse Portraits

Metropolitan Z, “Metro” is a 13-year-old Zangershide gelding who is owned and loved by Loretta-Jean. Metro lives at South Haven Farm in Dallas, TX, where the pair trains with Courtney Lenkart.

Though Loretta-Jean has many memories with Metro and considers him to be her best friend, her favorite memories are the simple time she gets to spend with him. Loretta-Jean shares, “We have gone through so much together. He’s a special horse, one that I always dreamed of and I’m so blessed he is mine. He has the best personality and always cheers me up.”

Metro has the biggest personality in any horse Loretta-Jean has ever met. “He knickers when I come in the barn and always seems to have his eye on me whenever I’m not with him. We built a special bond when we went through Covid together and got to spend even more time together with having school online. He nibbles on my neck and lucky my face when we are together I think it’s his way of talking to me. He was really my first higher-level showhorse and made all of my dreams come true!”

The pair have done everything from the 2’9 to the 3’3 Junior Hunters and National Derbies, “he has the best jump!” They have many accomplishments and were the winners of the THJA High Point Hunter’s Award in 2020 and that was an amazing memory for her, one that she will cherish for a lifetime.

Metro’s favorite treats are Apples.

Loretta-Jean started riding from the age she could talk. All she ever talked about was horses! “I had an insane amount of love for them and wanted to be around them all of the time, and to this day nothing has changed.”
