Meet Mac, a 5-year-old Chocolate Labrador. Mac is owned and adored by Shannon. Mac lives at home with his mom and dad, as well as Sage, who you will also meet in our book!
Mac was bred by a good friend of Shannon’s. He is a loveable boy, yet hyper who absolutely loves to go hunting with his dad! Did you know that Labradors are purpose-bred hunting dogs? Labs started out as duck retrievers, and after they were brought back to England in the 1800s, the British bred them as game-hunting companions. Today, they’re excellent retrievers who can work in a variety of diverse settings, including waterfowl hunting and game hunting, often for many hours at a time. Labs are among the dog world’s most versatile workers thanks to their intelligence, eagerness to please, and willingness to work hard. Labs also possess an incredible amount of loyalty making them among some of the most popular family-owned breeds. Labs are also incredible choices for service dogs, search and rescue, drug detection, and therapy work. Whatever your Lab is doing, whether it is hunting, fishing, attending horse shows, or a family pet, you know you have a loyal friend for life. Just be sure to have a yard or dog park nearby, because these guys sure do have lots of energy!
