LUNA | 13 YEAR-OLD PITBULL | DENTON, TX
Meet Luna, the female 13-year-old pitbull with a heart of gold and a love for muddy ponds. Luna’s owner, Caitlin, found her 13 years ago in a parking lot while attending a horse show in Denver, Colorado. Luna was in bad shape – underfed, covered in puncture wounds, and essentially living as a feral dog. Caitlin knew she had to do something to help this poor pup.
Caitlin took Luna under her wing and put her in an extra stall with food, water, and a horse blanket. Luna must have felt safe and loved for the first time in a long time because she fell asleep in Caitlin’s lap. From that moment on, Luna became Caitlin’s loyal sidekick and constant companion.
Despite her rough beginnings, Luna has thrived under Caitlin’s care. She has a unique black coat with a white chest and toes that make her stand out in a crowd. But what really sets Luna apart is her love for swimming in muddy ponds. Caitlin says it’s like watching a little hippo frolic in the water, and it always brings a smile to her face.
Luna is one special pup who enjoys eating healthy. Her favorite treat is not the typical dog treat, but rather something green and fresh. Yes, you read that right, Luna loves vegetables! From avocados to broccoli, Luna will munch on anything that is good for her. One of Luna’s favorite vegetables is avocado. She can smell it from a mile away and will come running when she knows it’s on the menu. She’ll happily gobble it up, savoring every bite and licking her lips when it’s all gone. Another veggie that Luna adores is broccoli. She’ll even sit and beg for it, wagging her tail excitedly as she awaits her delicious green treat. Caitlin is always happy to oblige, knowing that Luna is getting a healthy snack that she truly enjoys.
Luna may be getting up there in age, but she still has plenty of spunk and personality. She’s a reminder that even the roughest starts in life can lead to happy endings when given the chance. Thanks to Caitlin’s love and care, Luna has become a cherished member of the family and a true testament to the resilience of dogs.
