Kirby Lane | 13 YEAR-OLD HOLSTEINER | ARGYLE, TX

Kirby, Kirby Lane, is a Holsteiner Gelding. His sire is Chaleon and his dam is Quo Quo Z. Kirby was bred by Page Tredennick. Kirby spends his days training with Debbie DiVecchia at Windswept Farm in Argyle, TX.

Kirby is a beautiful horse with a gray coat and a stunning red roaned tail. But it’s not just his appearance that sets him apart – it’s his personality too! Kirby is a curious and upbeat horse, always eager to explore his surroundings and learn new things.

One quirky thing about Kirby is that he always yawns five times after he’s ridden. It’s almost like he’s releasing any tension or stress from the ride. But even with his little quirk, Kirby is a joy to be around. In the mornings, Kirby loves nothing more than grazing in the fields and going on leisurely walks. It’s a chance for him to stretch his legs and enjoy the fresh air before he shows off his talents.

Jayne, Kirby’s owner, had been on the lookout for the perfect horse for her family for quite some time. In February of 2021, she and her mom and trainer decided to take a trip to the mountains of South Carolina to see if they could find the right horse. That’s where they met Kirby, and it was love at first sight. They were immediately drawn to his charming personality and stunning appearance. After spending a couple of days getting to know Kirby, Jayne knew that he was the one. They brought Kirby home with them and he quickly became a beloved member of the family.

Kirby has a real sweet tooth when it comes to treats, but there’s one in particular that he absolutely adores – apples! This delightful horse loves nothing more than sinking his teeth into a juicy, crisp apple. They recently celebrated his birthday at the barn and Kirby got treated to something really special – candied apples with molasses! These sugary treats are a real indulgence for Kirby and he can hardly contain his excitement when he sees them.

Kirby is an accomplished horse who has proven his talent time and time again. In 2021, the pair were circuit champions in the 3’3 Junior Hunters division at the Gulf Coast Classic in Mississippi. They also finished second in the Junior/Amateur Derby at the same event. Kirby has picked up multiple tri-colors at horse shows all across the East Coast, solidifying his reputation as a top-performing horse. It’s clear that Kirby has a bright future ahead of him and he’s sure to continue racking up impressive accomplishments in the years to come.

Jayne’s love for horses was sparked at a young age by her aunt, Johnnie Martin-Carey. After visiting her aunt’s Steel Away Farm in Texas at the age of three, Jayne fell in love with horses and knew that she wanted to ride. It wasn’t until she was ten years old that she finally convinced her parents to let her take lessons at a large barn in North Carolina. Jayne quickly became a talented rider and got involved in many aspects of the equestrian world, including IEA and assistant training for young riders. In 2020, she had the incredible opportunity to live with her aunt in Texas for the summer and ride her horse, Humphrey. The experience culminated in Jayne showing Humphrey at the prestigious Kentucky Summer Classic, which was a huge highlight for her. In 2021, Jayne’s family welcomed Kirby into their family, and he quickly became a beloved member of the household. With her passion for horses and her talent as a rider, there’s no doubt that Jayne has a bright future ahead of her in the equestrian world.

One of Jayne’s favorite memories with Kirby is the nights she spent at the farm with him. Waking up early in the morning to be the first one to visit him in his stall was always a special moment for her. Jayne remembers turning on the lights in the barn and seeing Kirby’s eyes squint from being woken up, which she found incredibly cute. It’s these simple moments that have added up to a great two years with Kirby and have strengthened their bond.
