KINGS SOLDIER | 6 YEAR OLD HACKNEY PONY | MAGNOLIA, TX

King, Kings Soldier, is a Hackney Pony Gelding. His sire is Romeo’s King LF. His dam is Mastercraft’s Humdinger LF. He was bred by Daniel B. and Leah Rae Light at Light Farms. King lives and trains at Lone Star Saddlebreds by Milo Jones and Koren Mercer in Magnolia, TX.

King, the dark bay horse, has a medium-sized, irregular star ending in a point that gives him a distinctive appearance. Despite his imposing stature, he has a very lovable personality and is known for his feisty nature. One of King’s unique traits is that he sticks out his tongue when someone rubs both sides of his nose, which is both adorable and endearing. King’s playful and friendly demeanor makes him a favorite among those who know him.

Dan, King’s owner, was introduced to the majestic horse through Milo Jones, their trusted trainer who had found King in Kentucky. After purchasing him in February of this year, Dan took their four grandchildren, ranging in age from 6 to 13, to meet him at the barn. Despite appearing smaller than the other horses in the stable, King’s loveable and patient nature quickly won over the family’s hearts. He especially loves having his face rubbed and receiving hugs, making him an endearing addition to the family.

King has a favorite treat that he can’t resist – peppermint! There’s something about the cool and refreshing taste of the candy that he just can’t get enough of. Whenever his owner or caretaker offers him a peppermint, his eyes light up with excitement and he eagerly devours it.

Dan’s granddaughter discovered her love for horse riding when she started competing under the 3 Gaited Junior Exhibitor Class. After purchasing her own horse in 2022, the family became more involved in the equestrian world and fell in love with the sport. Riding horses has not only provided her with a fun and exciting activity, but it has also taught her valuable life lessons and helped boost her confidence. Dan and his family are grateful to have such great trainers and people like Milo and Koren in their lives and appreciate the sense of community and family that the barn provides. It’s clear that their granddaughter’s passion for riding horses has brought them all closer together and enriched their lives in countless ways.

King has achieved some impressive accomplishments that the whole family is very proud of. One of their most notable achievements was participating in The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, which supports Texas Children’s Hospital – an important cause close to their hearts. At the show, King proved to be a fierce competitor, taking 2nd Place in the Roadster Pony Open Class on March 22, 2023. The following day, he went on to win 1st Place in the Pony Under Saddle Class on March 23, 2023 – a remarkable accomplishment for both King and his rider. Dan and the family’s passion for caring for special needs children through his Pediatric Home Health Agency called Daisy Kids Care and Pediatric Clinic called Daisy Kids Therapy is reflected in King’s accomplishments and they are both grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause through their shared love of horse riding.

Despite only owning King for a few months, Dan already has a favorite memory with the lovable and feisty horse. One of King’s endearing traits is his love for resting his head on someone’s shoulder, which always brings a smile to Dan’s face. He’s also noticed that King gets upset when he stops petting him, a behavior that reminds him of a playful puppy. It’s clear that King has quickly become an important member of their family, and Dan cherishes every moment spent with him. With his lovable personality and playful nature, King has already left a lasting impression on Dan and his family.
