If you are looking for a place to take your little one for riding lessons or want to introduce them to ponies and are not sure where to start, look no further because Palina’s Ponies is the absolute best place for kids of all ages. Palina’s Ponies is a Riding School for Kids in Richmond, TX whose mission is to teach kids how to interact with Ponies, groom and tack them up and of course, learn how to ride the Ponies.
Palina’s Ponies is located at Blue Door Equestrian and run by Karoline Reichert. I personally love this facility, it is gorgeous and the horses and ponies have the best care. Karoline is an incredible horse person and trainer, she grew up in Germany and have trained top horses and riders, and they bring an incredible passion for helping raise up young equestrians who love the sport and possess proper skills to ride and care for horses. Lessons and Camps at Palina’s Ponies are not just about riding a pony, they are an experience to learn important skills such as responsibility and how to follow directions, children will also learn body awareness and so much more.
And, I can’t forget. Some days when I visit Blue Door Equestrian, there have even been dance parties happening in the barn with the kiddos and ponies! It is truly a fun experience for the kids, and they will learn so much in the process.
“Many studies have shown that it is highly beneficial for kids to grow up around horses. Not only does riding horses strengthen the spine and the body, supports balance and coordination, increase joint mobility, and stimulate internal organs and the cardiovascular system – being around and caring for a Pony also boosts social and mental skills: Horses and Ponies teach your child responsibilities, trust, work ethic, winning and losing, empathy and maybe even most importantly in times of smartphones: How to get their hands dirty! It is fascinating to see how the presence of a Pony can calm down super active kids and at the same time wake up quiet and shy kids.”
Children will learn basic horsemanship and riding skills. A big part of Palina’s Ponies is teaching your child how to interact with a Pony. Palina’s Ponies teaches children how to brush the Ponies, how clean their feet, how to tack them up, and lead them. Each of these tasks may not sound like much to some but are the basic foundations in learning how to care for the ponies and most importantly learning safety which is a huge learning process for a child.
They have regular classes during the fall and summer as well as camps during the summer and holiday breaks.
Palina’s Ponies also features a covered arena so that the Kids can ride in the shade as well.
