Meet Joli, also known as JoJo, the spunky and lovable 14-year-old female Papillon. She may be getting on in years, but don’t let her age fool you – she’s as feisty as ever and loves nothing more than a good game of fetch or a dip in the lake. With her beautiful brown and white coat, she’s a sight to behold as she bounds through the water and races after her favorite ball.
Joli’s story began when her owners, Lacy, and her family, spotted her in a pet store and knew they had to rescue her. Joli brought them comfort during a difficult time when Lacy was recovering from a broken foot. From that day on, Joli became a beloved member of the family, always ready for an adventure and a good meal.
Speaking of meals, Joli is a bit of a foodie and will eat just about anything you put in front of her. But her absolute favorite is a plate of eggs and sausage from the hotel’s breakfast buffet. It’s hard to resist those big, pleading eyes as she begs for a taste of whatever delicious treat is offered to her.
One of Lacy’s fondest memories of Joli is when she hiked all the way from one of the last show barns in Tryon up to the restaurants. While it may have been a bit of a scary experience, Joli’s determination and loyalty shone through as she found her way back to her family. It’s moments like these that make Joli such a special and cherished companion.
Despite her age, Joli shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. She’s still eager for new adventures and loves spending time with her family, whether that’s swimming in the lake or snuggling up on the couch. With her playful spirit and boundless energy, it’s clear that Joli is a dog who will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who know her.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2023 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 150 Horses and Dogs and was able to donate just under $15,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston.
