Patty who is owned by Kristina was an absolute rock star during her 365 Days of Horses session. I don’t think I have ever had a horse stand so incredibly still and pose so perfectly. Patty is full of personality and has an opinion about everything. Often times, she will tell you her opinion by her facial expression. Her favorite hobby is eating.. eating grass, hay, and even the occasional trust or tree if she is feeling “famished.” Although Patty’s owner Kristina appreciates her pure athleticism, it is her gentile and kind soul that Kristina loves the most. When Kristina arrives at the store Patty pops her face up and puts her ears forward before Kristina has even said a word. “When I enter her stall, I love to cup her soft muzzle in my hands and kiss her forehead as she leans into me. It’s these moments that I cherish the most. It’s these moments that fill my heart with pure love. And there’s nothing else in this world that can replicate that feeling.”

“Under saddle, Patty is extremely well behaved. She is brave and elegant in the arena. She loves to show. She exudes grace with every hoof beat. From the moment she steps foot in the show pen, she has a confidence and presents that makes you take notice (hence, her name). Patty loves a challenge. Therefore, she excels in pattern classes, including horsemanship and trail. But if you really want to watch her shine, point Patty toward a showmanship pattern. Her sharp, precise execution coupled with her elegant movement, takes my breath away – every time.”

Texas Equine Photographers | Karinda K Texas Equine Photography | equine.karindak.comPatty was living in Dallas/Ft.Worth when Kristina and her Husband first drove up to see her on a Saturday. There was a huge storm brewing and Patty’s former owner quickly tacked up in the hopes that they would beat the weather. Well, as luck would have it, the weather didn’t and as Kristina rode Patty there was thunder cracking over head and Patty didn’t even twitch. Patty just kept going along perfectly with her head down. “The wind whipped and howled through the arena. Patty never missed a beat. She listened to every que and stayed cool, calm and collected the entire 60-minute ride. When I got off, I thought surely this was a fluke so we asked her owner if we could come back the next day. She agreed. So my husband I grabbed a nearby hotel room for the night and decided we test the waters again the following day. The next day when we arrived at the barn, the temperature had dropped 30-40 degrees from the day before. I thought, surely, I would not be riding the same cool-headed horse I rode the day before. I was wrong. I climbed up on Patty and it was like I never got off the day before. She carried me around the arena quietly, agreeing to my every request with honestly and integrity, never even threatening to misbehave. When I got off, I told her owner that I was extremely interested in Patty, but I would like to show my trainer, Sally, the video we had taken of my ride on her before making any final decisions. My husband and I, filled with excitement, drove straight to Waco, where Sally was showing that weekend. After watching me ride peaceful Patty in hurricane-like conditions, Sally eagerly urged me to move forward with the purchase. On April 1 2013, Sally and I picked up Patty from Dallas and drove her back to Houston. That night when we tucked her into her new stall at our barn, we both cried tears of joy. She was home. I had found my dream horse.”

Kristina got into her horses when she was young, her dad has a passion for horses and owned and raised horses growing up. Her dad used to take her to trail riding places frequently when she was little. When Kristina was 12, she started taking lessons at a barn with her best friends. At the age 0f 15 her parents bought her Andie, her first horse, a palomino quarter horse that did everything from trail rides to team penning, and even showing wester pleasure. Andie was a saint. Ever since then horses have always been a big part of Kristina’s life.

My dad has a passion for horses, too. He owned and raised horses growing up. So when I was little he used to take me to the trail ride facilities frequently. Then when I was 12, I started taking riding lessons at a barn with my best friends. When I was 15, my parents bought me my first horse, Andie, a palomino quarter horse that I did everything with, from trail rides to team penning to showing western pleasure. He was a saint. And from then on out, horses have always been a huge part of my life and heart.

“Sally Elliott has been an extraordinary influence on mine and Patty’s life. The care and training she has given to Patty and I is first-class and unmatched in this industry. To say she has gone above and beyond to help us achieve our dreams is a vast understatement. Best of all, I never worry when I drive away from the barn, because I know Sally loves Patty as much as I do. I know she will give Patty all the love she needs and cherish her journey with her as much as I do.”
