Meet Valer, a beautiful grey gelding owned and ridden by Maggie.
This handsome guy was like photography a real-life unicorn! Given his age, the grey coloring in him has faded a bit over the years to a few dapples on his hind end, leaving an almost white coloring behind with some dark grey markings on his legs, a dark mane, but a light grey tail. Valer was such a unique horse, truly breathtaking.
Did you know that grey horses may be born any color and their hairs gradually turn white as time goes by and take on a white appearance? Nearly all grey horses have dark skin, except under any white markings that are present at birth. Skin color is the most common method for an observer to distinguish between mature white and gray horses. There are many ways to label grey horses and their colorings: dapple gray, flea-bitten gray, iron-gray, and rose gray. Grey can also be spelled either Grey or Gray.
