Houston Equine Photographer | Lindsay | GSWEC Fall Shows Katy,TX

Love and laughter as women smiles at her horse

I photographed Lindsay and Stanley at Great Southwest Equestrian Center during the Fall Shows while working on a special project for GSWEC in Katy,TX. I seriously have to start out by saying, I absolutely LOVED the outfit Lindsay chose for portraits, I love the clean simplicity of the all white equestrian look.

Lindsay and Stanley ride with Slate Creek Farm, which is located in Magnolia,TX. Lindsay has had “Black Out” or as they call him around the barn, Stanley since June of 2018. She purchased him from a friend whose family rescues horses. Stanley is an OTTB, and was in a kill pen when the family saved him and another OOTB. They took him in, and helped fatten him up and tech him to be a horse. Stanley eventually ended up at Slate Creek Farm and Lindsay took a lesson on him, they only walked for 30 minutes, and he was so nervous he worked himself up into a sweat. After Stanley was at the barn for a month, Lindsay saw the potential in him and the progress he had made and decided to approach the family about purchasing him.

Stanley has been owned by Lindsay for the last 16 months, and the pair has had to work hard and go back to the basics to turn him into the amazing horse is his today. They quickly realized he had incredible talent and loved to jump, and after just 9 months together they competed in the Low Adults at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, and then by July they were hitting the High Adults ring in Tryon. At the Fall GSWEC shows, they even won 2nd in the Low Adult Classic.

Stanley has a fun personality, and always wants to be a part of the action. This horse loves to compete and at the age of 7, he has a huge future ahead of him. He has the spunk to be a jumper and win, and this OTTB that was rescued from a Kill Pen is now giving the imported warmbloods a run for their money in the ring. Lindsay considers herself lucky to have gotten to teach and help this amazing horse grow, when he was found he was starved and close to dying but now he is living his life as a spoiled show horse in a fancy barn.

Lindsay shared her favorite memory of Great Southwest Equestrian Center with me, “GSWEC is our show home, and where Stanley and I got our show start together so it holds a special place in my heart. It’s also where I competed in my first A show in December of 2017. Having only done local shows growing up, GSWEC made me feel very comfortable as it isn’t too overwhelming and has fantastic rings and amenities! In that first show, I competed in the Low Adult Classic and placed 2nd… which is very fitting seeing as Stanley and I just placed 2nd in the same class. It’s come full circle for my show life to date!”
