Duncan, Hot Wheels, is an 18-year-old Chesnut Roan Gelding
who has a unique personality that sets him apart from other horses. Ada Rose, who is leasing him from Training Wheels LLC, has had the pleasure of getting to know him well. Duncan lives and trains at Homeward Farms in Double Oak, TX.
Duncan is a gentle and sweet horse that loves to please his rider. He is always willing to learn new things and takes direction well. His chestnut roan coat shines in the sun, and his mane and tail are always neatly groomed. Ada Rose loves the way he looks, and his friendly demeanor makes him all the more lovable.
One of Duncan’s most remarkable traits is his ability to communicate with Ada Rose. When she approaches him, he greets her with a soft nicker that sounds like “hello” in horse English. This greeting is something special that only Duncan does, and Ada Rose cherishes it.
Duncan is also very protective of Ada Rose when she is riding him. He can sense when she is about to lose her balance and slows down or stops to prevent her from falling off. His actions show how much he cares about her safety and well-being.
Furthermore, Duncan is affectionate and enjoys giving kisses on Ada Rose’s helmet. This gesture is a testament to the bond that they share. Ada Rose describes Duncan as sweet and fluffy, which are qualities that make him a great horse companion.
Ada Rose and Duncan first met when she was searching for a horse to lease for her riding lessons. She tried other ponies and horses in Ocala, Florida, but none of them were as good as Duncan. From the moment she rode him, she knew that he was the one for her.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. During the 2023 Pin Oak Charity Horse Show Karinda photographed around 150 Horses and Dogs and was able to donate just under $15,000 to Candlelighter’s Houston.
