HF CITY COAT | 12 YEAR-OLD OLDENBURG | LEWISVILLE, TX

City, HF City Coat, is an Oldenburg Mare. Her sire is Contendro I. Her dam is Peticoat who is by Phantom. She was bred by Elke Groeneveld in Germany.

City lives at Homeward Farms in Lewisville, TX, the pair trains with Lauren Eisele and Brandon Howard. She is a magnificent bay mare with socks on both hind legs and her left front, is truly a horse like no other. With a heart as big as her stature, she resembles a giant, lovable dog. One can’t help but be enchanted by her endearing nature. City is undeniably the sweetest and most social creature around, always eager to make new friends. Her stunning eyes shine with warmth and curiosity, while her expressive ears constantly dance to the rhythm of her emotions. But it’s her floppy lips that steal the show, spreading joy wherever she goes. And when it comes to affection, City is a true snuggle enthusiast. Very few things make her happier than sharing a warm embrace with her human companions. She embodies all the qualities that make horses extraordinary and leaves a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to encounter her.

In the search for the perfect equine companion, Mary had spent months tirelessly looking, yet nothing seemed to click as “the one.” Just when she was beginning to lose hope, her friends Lauren and Brandon made an unexpected suggestion – City could be the ideal match. Mary had always admired City from a distance, knowing she was Brandon’s cherished horse. The idea of riding her had never crossed Mary’s mind, but she was incredibly flattered that they thought she could handle such an incredible creature. However, there was lingering uncertainty about whether City would accept her. The day Mary finally had the opportunity to try riding City, she noted that it was akin to test-driving a powerful Ferrari. The experience was simply awe-inspiring, as City proved to be amazing in every way. Now, a year and a half later, the pair are inseparable, cherishing each day as a precious gift together.

When it comes to treats, City has a clear favorite – watermelon! This extraordinary horse has a unique palate, and there’s nothing she enjoys more than the sweet, juicy delight of a ripe watermelon. As soon as City catches a whiff of the refreshing juicy fruit, her ears perk up with anticipation. She eagerly devours the succulent flesh, savoring every bite with sheer delight.

Mary’s journey into the horse riding world began in her childhood when her granddad, gifted her with riding lessons after he noticed her intense passion for them. From that moment, a lifelong love for these majestic creatures was ignited. Throughout her college years, Mary had the pleasure of owning horses, but as she embarked on her professional career and started a family, riding took a backseat. However, the magnetic pull of horses was too strong to resist forever, and two years ago, Mary found herself returning to the saddle. It felt as if she had never left. What she cherishes the most about being a horse owner is not only the bond she forms with her equine companions but also the sense of belonging within the entire barn family. For Mary, it’s about embracing new family members, both horses and fellow horse lovers, as well as creating a supportive and fulfilling community that makes her equestrian journey more rewarding.

Mary’s favorite memory with City encapsulates the delightful spontaneity and humor that can unfold between a horse and its owner. On that particular day, as Mary’s daughter rummaged through her trunk near City’s stall, she stumbled upon a granola bar. In a lighthearted moment, Mary cautioned her daughter not to let City catch a glimpse of the treat, knowing her equine companion’s irresistible temptation. However, before Mary could even finish her sentence, something incredible happened. City, who had been half asleep just moments before, sprang to life and appeared at the stall door with a comically curious expression. It was as if she had sensed the possibility of a shared snack. In a heartwarming turn of events, Mary’s daughter and City enjoyed a spontaneous moment of connection, as they indulged in the snack together. This memory serves as a testament to the unspoken understanding and joyful surprises that can unfold in the beautiful bond between a horse and its owner.
