GIGGLES | 20 YEAR OLD WELSH/HOLSTEINER MARE
Meet Happy Place, affectionately known as “Giggles”—a beloved 20-year-old Welsh/Holsteiner mare with a heart as big as her name suggests. Giggles has been a cherished partner for Lucie Mae Benson, thanks to the keen eye of their trainer, Erin Jarvis at True Catori Farm.
Lucie Mae Benson’s journey with Giggles began all thanks to Erin, who knew this special mare was meant to be part of their story. Since joining the family, Giggles has brought laughter, friendship, and countless memories to everyone at the barn.
Lucie Mae Benson’s love for horses started early—her very first pony ride was at a 4-H fair in Kodiak, Alaska. By age 4, she was already taking lessons and showing in Nassau, The Bahamas, with the amazing team at Mariposa Stables. Horses have always been LMB’s happy place, so it’s only fitting that she found a soulmate in a mare named Happy Place!
One of Lucie Mae Benson’s all-time favorite memories is throwing a birthday party for Giggles during the POCHS barn stall setup in 2024. There were cupcakes, party favors, and the stall was decked out in full birthday décor—proof that Giggles is more than a show pony; she’s truly family.
Giggles and Lucie Mae Benson have built quite the show record together. For the 2024 show year, they took home 4th place in the THJA Children’s Hunter Pony – Small/Medium, and 6th place in the USHJA Zone 7 HOTY – Children’s Hunter Pony S&M – Channel 1. Each ribbon is a testament to their teamwork and the joy they bring to the ring.

Portraits for Charity was an idea Karinda dreamt up to help give back to families impacted by Childhood Cancer in memory of her husband’s sister Jessica. With the help of the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show family, Karinda has raised over $30,000 for Candlelighter’s Houston since starting this project.
