There are many ways one enters into the horse world. For some of us it is a relative that instills a love of horses, for others it may be an early first encounter with these fine creatures. For Frankie Owens it was both and so much more. Humbly expressed by Frankie, alongside his sister, he had the blessed opportunity to practically be born in the barn. Having had both parents involved in the horse community. Owens states, “I don’t take for granted growing up the way I did, the benefits of being raised in an established stable aren’t lost on me.”
However, we still cannot but be impressed as his upbringing allowed him to only show as an amateur for a year before becoming a professional at age 19.
Frankie and his sister, Whitney, carry on the family legacy on their farm here in Texas training and showing Hunters and Jumpers. Horses are trained with understanding from a young age and therefore develop a rock solid sense of confidence which in turn has produced much success for Owens in the show ring. Some of his successes consist of being the champion at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center Texas Winter Series(a considerable amount of times), winning the Walter Oil & Gas $25,000 Grand Prix in 2017 and the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby in 2018 at Pin Oak. He continues to win Grand Prix’s across the southern states.
What a beautiful family legacy fulfilled and continued through Frankie and his sister.
