Flecky 58 | October Hill Farm Hudson Oaks, TX | Horse Portraits

Flecky 58, is owned by Rachel and goes by several nicknames one of which is Flecky and he is a 9-year-old Hanoverian. The pair train at Heineking Show Stables with Christian Heineking in Hudson Oaks, TX.

Flick Fack, Fleckmaster, and Flack the Snack are all nicknames Rachel calls Flecky. He was bred in Germany and his sire (father) is Quite Rubin and his dam (mother) is Grandina. Rachel thinks he resembles a panda with his black coat, bald face, white stockings, and white walleye.

Rachel’s trainer imported him from Germany and Rachel ended up falling in love with him pretty quickly. Her previous horse had to be retired due to an injury and she connected with the Fleckmaster immediately. He actually jumped her out of the tack the first time she jumped him but she loved his grit and speed.

Rachel’s favorite memories of their partnership are competing in the USHJA National Championships in Vegas and going clear in the High Adult Classic in Omaha, Nebraska. That was the first show they clicked and trusted each other. Rachel’s trainer gave her a high five as they exited the arena and she was truly on cloud nine!

Flecky has quite the personality and appetite apparently. He is more goat than a horse when it comes to his stomach. He has eaten three heavy blankets, a puffy jacket, and even a bowl of tortilla soup! However, his favorite treats are paddock cakes with a mint in the middle.

Rachel has been riding since she was 8 years old. Her first pony’s name was Star Go Far and she competed in eventing from ages 8-18. She began competing in the jumpers when she came back from college and has been doing it ever since. She loves the bond you share between horse and rider and the team you become as your bond strengthens.
