First Edition HM is an 8-year-old Welsh cross that lives in Magnolia, TX. Everyone calls him “Teddy.” Teddy is owned and adored by Darya. They train at TKO Sporthorses.
Teddy is a sweet, grey gelding who is considered a “large pony.” Ponies begin at 12.2 hands or 50 inches, a large pony would be closer to 14 hands but no taller than 14.2 hands or 58 inches. Darya describes Teddy as a sweet pony who loves treats and attention.
Darya began riding when she was 8-years-old and did it for fun, however, it has turned into a passion of hers over the years. One of her favorite things about Teddy is his heart and willingness to give all he’s got for her in the ring. She loves all of their moments together and says he’s her best friend.
Did you know horses are measured in “hands?” This was a way for people to measure them prior to measuring tapes. A “hand” is considered 4 inches so if a horse is 15 hands then they are 60 inches tall (5 feet).

These are the stories of the Horses, Dogs, and Goats that were photographed at the show, these stories complement a photographic book that Karinda is printing and donating to Texas Children’s Hospital featuring Portraits of each and every animal she photographed.
