FELIX BC | 13 YEAR-OLD DUTCH WARMBLOOD | AUSTIN, TX
Felix, Felix BC, is a Dutch Warmblood Gelding. His sire is Carthino Z who is by Carthago. His dam is Pepper H who is by Holland. He trains at Copper Hill in Austin, TX with Nicki Mathen.
Felix is a charming horse with a unique bay coat and a striking white star on his forehead. His coat color is a rich, reddish-brown shade that is sure to catch the eye of anyone who sees him. But what really sets Felix apart is the distinctive white star that sits right in the center of his forehead. It’s as if he has a special mark that identifies him as a one-of-a-kind horse.
Whitney had been on the lookout for the perfect horse for quite some time when she and Felix finally crossed paths at the Kentucky summer series. It was there that she learned that Felix was actually her trainer’s old Grand Prix horse who had gone on to become an Equitation horse and even competed in the Maclays! When Whitney found out that Felix was for sale in Kentucky, she knew that he would be the perfect match for her. With his impressive pedigree and undeniable talent, Whitney couldn’t wait to make Felix a part of her own equestrian journey. It was a match made in heaven, and Whitney and Felix have been inseparable ever since.
Felix is a horse who really loves his treats, and it’s hard to find something that he won’t eat! In fact, his favorite treat is anything that he can get his teeth on. He’s like a vacuum, happily chomping away at anything in sight. He’s not picky when it comes to snacks, and he’s always on the lookout for something tasty to munch on.
Whitney has always been drawn to horses and their graceful nature, but it wasn’t until recently that she got into riding. After taking a break from the sport, Whitney decided to give it another go, and she hasn’t looked back since. She’s been riding for just over a year now, and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. Whitney feels that there’s something truly special about the bond between horse and rider, and the escape that horses can provide after long, busy days at work. For Whitney, riding is not just a hobby, but a passion that she plans to pursue for years to come.
Whitney may not have a long history of memories with Felix just yet, but there’s one experience that stands out as her favorite so far. As someone who took a break from riding for 10 years, Whitney was understandably a bit rusty when she got back into the saddle. But Felix has been an incredible trainer and partner, patiently helping her regain her confidence and skills. Whitney’s favorite memory with Felix was at the Pin Oak show, which also marked their 1-year anniversary of showing and riding together. Despite the nerves and excitement of the competition, Felix was a calm and patient teacher, guiding Whitney through the course with ease. It was a moment that showcased the special bond between horse and rider, and it’s one that Whitney will always cherish.
