Fab, Houston, TX, is an American Saddlebred Gelding. His sire is Joe Fabulous, his dam is The Nutty Lass. He was bred by Willowbank Farm.
One of the funniest memories of Fab is seeing him pull up in the trailer to Great Southwest for a horse show. While all the other horses were quietly munching away on their hay, Fab had his head stuck out the window with his ears forward enjoying the Texas breeze. His personality was shining bright at that moment!
Fab is a very curious boy. More often than not you will find him with his head out the stall door or window watching what is going on around him. He also lives for scratches and will happily groom you back in appreciation! He has a very curious and loving personality and he is so patient and puts up with all my annoying hugs and kisses. He is truly the best equine partner and loves sour patch kids as a special treat.
My previous trainer bought Fab at two years old. At that age, he was all legs and ears! It took all of five seconds for me to fall in love with his quirkiness. At first, he was pretty unsure of people, so I made it my mission to win him over with scratches and spa days. Fast forward two years to the beginning of his four-year-old year – I finally convinced my trainer to let me buy him. It was one of the best days of my life! We’ve spent the past two years growing our relationship under saddle and it has been the most rewarding journey!
Fab already has quite the resume with the following accomplishments. He was 2020 Southwest Circuit Reserve Champion ASB Fine Harness, 2019 Southwest Circuit Reserve Champion ASB Fine Harness, and 2019 Southwest Circuit Reserve Champion ASB Fine Harness, Junior Horse.
Jessica grew up riding Arabians and Half-Arabians at Ridgemont Stables in Bondurant, Iowa under the instruction of Lyric Laughlin Phillips. She showed on and off at the Des Moines Fairgrounds but didn’t have the opportunity to purchase her own horse until a few years ago when she bought Fab. Her favorite thing about owning is the close relationship she’s developed with Fab and the opportunity to watch him grow and experience new things throughout the past few years. She mentioned that each year his confidence and stature continue to grow, but no matter how big or mature he gets -he will always be the lanky big-eared baby she fell in love with years ago.
