The second question you should ask yourself when choosing the perfect location for pictures with your horse is “Where do I want to display these images?”

Lets look at the different options for displaying your images. The first and most popular option is Wall Art. You can also choose options such as Albums, or Keepsake Heirloom Boxes. We offer both a la carte options, and collections that combine these different selections.

Wall Art is the most common thing people think about when displaying their images. I LOVE wall art. Having a gorgeous image of you and your horse displayed on the walls of your home allows you to wake up each and every day and walk past that image and cherish that very moment. To feel that feeling of joy that you feel each and every time you walk into the barn. To feel that excitement you felt the first time you met your horse. To feel that sense of peace that somehow horses have the ability to instill in us all. Not only for yourself, but for guests when they enter your home. When you think about wall art there are different options as far as how to display them and where to put them in your home or even at your barn. I always encourage clients to take pictures of any spaces or walls they think they want to display wall art in and we can actually take that picture and show them what a specific image and size of image would look like on that wall. The great part about wall art is that they can always be moved around or rearranged as years pass, as you get new horses, or as you decide to add images to a wall. Something to keep in mind when selecting the location for your session is the decor in your home or even in your barn if you plan on displaying images there. If you have a very modern home, a black background portrait session may be best, or we can find a more edgy location for your session. If your home is Joanna Gaines Farmhouse esque then you may want something more outdoors in a field with trees in the open or even an old barn in the background. You can also think about the colors in your home, do you prefer muted tones or bolder colors? We want to ensure the location and clothing that we select for the session will blend well and complement your home.

The second option is an Album. Albums are amazing because they have the ability to really tell a story. Albums are my personal favorite items. I love having portraits done of my husband  each year and made into an album so that we can look back over the years and see how we both have changed. This is the same with your horse, an album can tell a story of the journey that happens from year to year. If you want to document this journey than a good place to do that is at the farm where you keep your horse. Simply because it has more of a sentimental value and it does tell a better story of you and your horse. If you think an album is something you too would love, we want to make sure that all of your outfits blend well together so that we can mix and match them within the album.

The final option is a Heirloom Keepsake Box. This box is perfect for anyone who treasures little nick nacks. It comes with a set of 4×6 prints of all of the final images from the session. It also has space to add a few little mementos from the session such as a little bit of horse hair or a bridle tag. It is so great getting to open up this box and flip through all of the images from the session and re-live every single moment. To share with friends and family when they visit, or just reminisce when you are having a tough day. Typically the Heirloom Box is something that clients choose to add on in addition to wall art so that they can have the entire set of images form their session to look back through. I always recommend sticking with the guidelines that I recommend when choosing a location for your session if you know you want display wall art in your home if you love this option.

In today’s day and age, printed heirloom fine art pieces are becoming a lost art. Being able to look back at gorgeous printed images of you and your horse really is an amazing feeling, and portraits are an amazing and exciting experience and should be treasured for a lifetime. My goal is to really make sure that each and every one of my clients is informed and educated on the best ways to utilize their portrait session so they they get the most out of their images. My goal at the end of your session is to make sure that you leave with pieces of art that you truly love and will be cherished for generations. For you to have those images on the walls of your home that your grandchildren will one day look at in awe.
