Equestrian Bridal Portraits | Woodway Equestrain | The Woodlands,TX

When Gaby first reached out to me about photographing her wedding and creating these magical bridal portraits that included Athena I was so excited because I knew they would be stunning. Gaby’s Bridal Portraits were absolutely magical, everything screamed fairytale and this was truly Gaby’s dream come true.

If you have worn a wedding dress, you know just how difficult it can be to walk around in a wedding dress, but handing a wedding dress on the windiest day of the year along with handling a horse takes major talent. Gaby took it all in stride during her Bridal Portrait session with her horse at Woodway Equestrian Center in The Woodlands,TX.

I wanted to share 5 tips to make sure you bridal portraits with your horse are perfection.

  1. Bring a couple of trusty friends to help you get ready, and be your cheering squad during the day! Gaby had an entire entourage for her Bridal Portraits at Woodway Equestrian Center, it was great to have lots of extra hands to help with handling the dress, keeping Gaby’s hair and makeup looking perfect, and also getting Athena’s ears up for her photos.
  2. Ask your hair & makeup artist to come to the barn, having your hair and makeup done at the barn will help reduce the stress on the day of your bridal portraits and you can avoid getting behind schedule because of traffic or other things you can’t quite plan for. It is a HUGE plus if they will hang around during your session for touch ups as needed.
  3. Don’t be afraid to add flowers to your horse! It can be hard to hold a bouquet and a horse at the same time, so adding floral garland to your horse’s neck can be a great way to add in the floral element without having to worry about a bouquet.
  4. Have a friend come with you to the barn to help get your horse ready so you can focus on getting yourself ready on the day of.
  5. When it feels like everything is going crazy, wether the weather isn’t cooperating, your horse decides that a giant dress is terrifying, or you are just overwhelmed about getting into your wedding dress and walking around next to your horse…keep one thing in mind, don’t forget to smile and have fun and just enjoy the day! I promise if you have a photographer you trust they will make sure your pictures are phenomenal.
