Elle Fortune is owned by Marieke and Kaia Slik of Bright Star Stables however at Pin Oak she was ridden by Kaia at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show. Elle is a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood. Kaia rides with Rachel Gray at Grays Equine in Boerne, TX. Kaia was just leasing Elle for the year and in this small time, this horse made a big impact on Kaia’s life.
Elle has a very distinguishing mark on her forehead, which is a scar. People always ask Kaia how she got her scar, and she replies that she used to have a unicorn horn! But the truth is, she got her head caught in a fence as a foal. Elle is super lazy during flatwork, but as soon as it comes time to jump she turns into a completely different horse. She gets so excited and energized the second she sees a jump.
Although she is a big jumper, she is very delicate and has to have her apples cut into pieces because she struggles with biting a chunk out of apples. She loves how her tail looks like it has been crimped because it is wavy.
This perfect mare loves carrots.
They have won the high children’s classic their very first time competing in the high children’s. They also got grand champion in their first show, and have qualified for jumper team championships at the info of the year.
Kaia started riding horses six years ago when she was in the 6th grade, she always loved horses but never really had a chance to get into riding until then. Ever since then she has been hooked!
